Should do well against cats. Remember when I correctly predicted that Catwoman would be in Part 3 and FShuttari got mad? I also mentioned Robin would never show up in the Nolan universe... So I ate my words twice. Hence forth why TDKR is still the weakest of the 3. I wonder if Nolan got pressured by the Studio to include Robin and Catwoman in some form.

I don't wanna beat up on Dark Knight too much. It's 95% great. The Joker is great. Everything else ranges from 'okay sure' to 'wtf?' If someone reading this disagrees with me (except Neverending), ask yourself when was the last time you watched TDK all the way through and didn't just fast forward to the Joker scenes. That whole boat shit is fucking stupid The Dark Knight is judged on Heath Ledger's performance which is fine, the villain of a comic book movie is usually what stands out. I personally just think there's too much fluff, too much filler, too much 'huh?' in the Nolan movies to put them at the level that some people do. There's no reason a Batman movie about stopping a stupid nuclear bomb needs to be 3 hours.

DoomsdayDark Knight Rises is easily the worst screenplay Nolan ever wrote, not counting Man of Steel. Everything about it is stupid. Bruce Wayne as a hermit. His ridiculous attraction to Catwoman. Bane's scheme to finish what Ra's al Ghul started. Matthew Modine as a terrible police officer giving terrible orders. Bruce Wayne getting out of a hole in the middle of nowhere and somehow, undetected, returning to Gotham just in time. An 11 minute bomb taking at least 20 minutes to blow up. The unqualified Robin taking over for Batman. I'd love to see PG Cooper defend any of this in a video essay. As I said earlier, Dark Knight Rises should have never existed. Dark Knight should have ended with Joker's escape from prison, the death of Rachel and Harvey narrowly surviving the explosion. Part 3 should have picked up with Two Face and properly told the White Knight/Dark Knight story. But whatever. Nolan didn't know Dark Knight would be a billion dollar hit, so he played it safe and wrapped up that particular story. That still doesn't excuse Dark Knight Rises. The hermit thing is dumb. Instead have an actively involved Bruce Wayne working on clean energy with Miranda Tate. Give them a real relationship so her betrayal has more impact. Make Bane a stronger villain. His whole scheme is to wait 5 months for a bomb to explode? Really? It might have made more sense if the bomb wasn't complete yet and that's what he was waiting for while Bruce was in the hole. Also, 5 months seems too long. Could have reduced it to a couple of months, at least. Dark Knight Rises could have been leaner. No hermit. No dumb cops. No Catwoman. No Robin. No retirement. No shutdown of Gotham City. The Joker is defeated. The mob is defeated. Bruce Wayne has hanged up the cape and cowl and is focusing on Wayne Enterprises instead. He's working with Miranda Tate on clean energy and has fallen in love with her. Life seems great. The city is save. Bruce is happy. Then the mercenary Bane shows up and executes a terrorist attack that baits Batman out of retirement. They have their fight and the out-of-practice Batman suffers a back injury. He's dumped in the hole and Miranda reveals that she's actually Talia. She will weaponize the energy device once it's completed and there's nothing Bruce can do but watch. In that time Bruce puts all his effort into healing and getting out of the hole. Bruce returns just as the energy device is weaponized and the battle ensues. Batman wins and Gotham, as well as Bruce, realizes there might be some use for Batman after all. The End. This script could have been fixed but Nolan has surrounded himself with yes men and that's why Rises, Interstellar and Dunkirk aren't as good as his earlier work.
