A TV show seems too small scale. Daredevil deserves better. How big a scale were you expecting? Daredevil doesn't save the world. He's a street level hero, and always has been. The only superheroes I recall saving the world on film are The Fantastic Four, The X-men, and The avengers Daredevil has gone up against plenty of super villains - he's not just after the mob and bank robbers

Yeah, just like Spider-Man. Spidey has had 5 movies. Daredevil is also top-tier Marvel with a long history. He deserves another go on the big screen. That's a fair point. The simplest answer is that Spider-Man is far more popular than Daredevil has ever been. Spidey usually has at least three different comics titles being published at any given time in addition to various limited series, numerous animated series and a steady stream of video games. When Spider-Man was given a feature film, it was a huge success. Daredevil has rarely been able to support more than one ongoing series at any given time, he's never had an animated series of his own, only one video game has ever been released (and that was just for the Gameboy Advance). When Daredevil got his shot at a movie, it's performance was enough to make no more than a modest profit. Personally, I think Daredevil is better suited to a one-hour format. There's a reason there are so few successful courtroom dramas on the big screen, yet there have been countless TV series in the courtroom drama genre.

I completely agree. I think Daredevil is great for this kind of format. With television you can tell much deeper and complex stories, and I think that will do the character wonders here.

Also... let's not forget that Spider-Man has super-powers and super-villains, but Daredevil is a blind guy fighting a fat guy.

I think it looks good. Especially after having watched the far superior Director's Cut of the 2003 film two weeks ago, I'm considerably more optimistic about this show. Plus, Charlie Cox was awesome on Boardwalk Empire.

I agree with Neverending. This looks almost fan-made, like it was made on a shoestring budget.
Maybe it will come across as being gritty in the show rather than cheap in the trailer though.

Maybe it will come across as being gritty. These Netflix shows are the "street-level superheroes." I think Marvel wants these shows to look the complete opposite of their movies, hence the low-budget and realism. Will it work? It'll depend on the writing.

Well, it's just a teaser, and a short one at that. Unfortunately, there simply wasn't much to it. I guess we'll have to wait for a proper trailer to get a genuine feel for what the show is going to be like.

People can talk all the shit they want about 2003 Daredevil, but the first 20 or 30 minutes of that movie are perfect. And it's what I was hoping for the TV show.

That bloody playground scene is what really left a stink on the Daredevil film. It was so absurd and out of place that it's all many people remember about the movie. The butchering of the narrative done by the studio didn't help, either. Aside from the playground fight, the Daredevil Director's Cut is a solid flick.

You have to think that Affleck and Garner love that movie because that is where they met... I wonder if they watch it every anniversary or something.
Then in a few years they will show their kids... man that will be an awkward few hours.

Considering that Ben was dating Jennifer Lopez during the filming of Daredevil, that conversation has great potential for some awkward questions.

I'm excited for it. Heads are going to roll if he never wears the traditional suit though.

Yeah I'm hoping that the trailers only cover the first 2-3 episodes as it would be great to see his suit evolve throughout the entire season. I really don't want to see him start wearing the red suit in, as Wyldstaar suggested, the last like five minutes of the finale.

What would be so bad about that again? I find it strange you are focusing on that so much. He is blind remember.

It has already been confirmed he will get the red suit (or a variation) at some point. Jeph Loeb said in an EW report "The ‘devil will eventually get his iconic red costume, but first he’ll wear the black duds seen here—inspired by Frank Miller’s graphic novel Daredevil: Man Without Fear." When that will happen is another question. However, another report (from supposedly someone on set) would indicate they've shot action scenes with a more evolved version of the suit. Hard to say on the validity. I suppose if you want to keep the costume evolution as a surprise, this is a minor spoiler: The scene in question starts with the Kingpin ordering his goons to shoot Daredevil, and at the last minute Daredevil grabs a pipe on the ground and throws it, knocking the gun out of his hand. The suit Daredevil was wearing is black with red and looked like a latex scuba suit. He also confirmed it also having red lines down it as highlights as well. If not already known, Steven DeKnight also mentioned how much "grittier" the show would be:

Early reviews are strong. Supposed to have a single shot scene to rival True Detective... although it was hinted at to be one kind of like the original Oldboy shot in the hallway.
I'm not officially excited to check this out.
