I was just there two weeks ago. It wasn't the apocalyptic nightmare some people make it out to be, it's still a pretty awesome city that you all should visit if you get the opportunity but there definitely are a lot of homeless people. And not just the people standing on the corner asking for change, I'm talking about the barefoot, shirtless, caked in dirt, sores on their arms and legs and shuffling around in a haze homeless people. It's a very sad state of affairs.

Minimum wage in California is going up to $20/hr. Pizza Hut is responding by laying off its delivery drivers and pivoting to 3rd party apps like Uber and DoorDash. The article says that other pizza places are doing the same, but Pizza Hut is the biggest one.

In my neck of the woods, it is Domino’s that phased out delivery drivers. It is carryout or don’t bother with Domino’s these days. Which is funny cause they were the inventors of 30 minutes or less.

In regards to Pizza Hut, just bring back the dine-in restaurants! That’s what made Pizza Hut Pizza Hut.

There was a Pizza Hut restaurant in my neighborhood as recent as 2017 and it was still pretty legit. I think it closed down cause the lease went up. That lot now houses three different carryout-only fast-casual food places. Across the street there was a Burger King that also closed down in 2017, but nothing replaced it. So for the past 6 years there’s been a random empty lot in that block. They could at least put a parking lot. Did the landlord die or something? I don’t know. Very peculiar. If I ever have money, I might be tempted to invest in commercial real estate. I see abandoned lots throughout the city and wonder why no one’s built anything. Like, what happened there? Was there a poltergeist? Did someone build over an Indian burial ground and dip the moment they got attacked?

In-N-Out drive thru lines are always insane. Especially in LA. And they're always in tiny parking lots so it's a mess.

Honestly the only good thing about that is I don't eat there nearly as often as I would because I don't want to sit in line for 30 minutes.

Yeah, In-N-Out's biggest flaw is the crowd/wait. It's way better than your standard fast food and really not that much more expensive these days so it's worth the extra time if you're willing.
