California: People used to swim here!

It's so bad in LA. We're at 1 in every 5 people now will have the virus.

I had assumed that you guys would be doing better than the rest of us what with the weather letting you all avoid indoor activities but apparently not.

Ah, that makes sense.

The fact California is doing worse than Texas and Florida is astonishing.

I don't know if the homeless are among the latest official tracking either but I do know based on what I've been reading is that it's really starting to explode among the homeless population according to hospital admissions etc.  

That's what I've read as well. And I know there are some people who are outraged that transients and the prison population are getting the vaccine before most of us, but when the goal is to stop the spread of the virus it makes sense since those two groups are at extreme risks of contracting and spreading it.

Fortunately they were able to open it back up before too long but yeah, it's bullshit that they just let people run roughshod and without consequence.

In the meantime, people are closing in on getting 1.5 million signatures to recall Gavin Newsom. I'm sure that election will be just fine and will involve no drama whatsoever.

 Between recall elections and rampant ballot initiatives California has got to have the worst state constitution in the union.

I've said this before amongst friends but if I could warn the guys in charge in Sacramento about anything it's this: while you continuously drop the ball on things like homelessness, the housing crisis, taxes and watching the middle class leave as fast as they can, be sure that you aren't inadvertently creating the next generation of Republicans who will be running against your fuck-ups for years to come.  Because I think that's exactly what's going to happen.

If it were up to the lady we would have moved to Texas already, she loves Texas.  My job keeps me in LA though but that might not be the case for much longer considering how many people are setting up shop to work remotely on a permanent basis.

I think the questions on a lot of peoples' minds when it comes to all the Californians moving to Texas is...are you sure you want to turn Texas blue?  Considering how you just, ya know, left THE blue state?  Is the desire to just give the electoral votes to the Democrat running for President?  Or is to raise taxes, increase regulations and add social benefits?  Because I know a lot of people in Texas are watching the Californians invade and are afraid they're going to drop their bags and say 'No state income tax eh?  Well we'll just see about that!'  

Speaking of, I was just reading how Beto is thinking about running against Greg Abbott for governor. I'm sure some Democrats like the guy but Republicans are going to run his 'damn right we're coming for your guns' into the ground. They're going to play and replay and replay the clip of him saying that he'll revoke tax-exempt status from schools and churches that oppose same-sex marriage. That might fly in a blue or even purple state but I don't think any of that is going to go over well in Texas.

What we can really hope for is that Ted Cruz goes far, far away and never returns.
