Well I did nto see a concert thread so had to start one. I do not get to go to shows often, due to usually being broke, having 4 kids, and living in a concert dead zone BUT I try to get to a show here and there.
I just got tickets to Aaron Lewis, near Atlanta. Me and the wife are really excited. We got to see him back in 2011 at another spot near Atlanta and it was an amazing show.
My short list of concerts is as follows:
Nine Inch Nails and David Bowie - Columbus, Oh - 1995 Porno for Pyros w/ Fun Lovin Criminals - Cincinnati, Oh - 1996 Sevendust - Albany, Ga - 2003 (I think) Aaron Lewis - Atlanta, Ga - 2011
Not much to brag about but all great shows. I have also seen Martina McBride and Sheryl Crow, both for my wife. Good shows but not my thing.
Anyway, just getting a conversation going. Talk about past shows you have seen or ones you are going to see in the near future.

My one concert semi-regret:
My two favorite bands are NIN and Jane's Addiction. I was too young to see the original Jane's lineup before they split in 1991 so that sucked. I got to see NIN later on and then see half of Jane's in Porno for Pyros. Never got to see Jane's though.
Well just a few years ago I read that NIN and Jane's are going to tour AND Eric Avery is going to be back with the band. Once in a lifetime show.....and because it fell in May I had to either screw two of my kids out of a birthday and go see it OR give them a good birthday like they should have and miss the show. Well as you can see from my list above, I skipped the show. I told myself I would get them on the next go round. Of course Eric Avery leaves the band AGAIN and Perry pisses off Trent so I doubt they will be touring together again. And to top it off, Saul Williams was a special guest at that one show so I missed that too.
My brother got to go see it and I have watched some clips of the show I would have gone to on youtube but man is it depressing knowing I missed it.
Heartbreaking.

These are a few I'm going to. My current girlfriend goes to a lot of concerts, so it'll be a good opportunity for me to increase my concert count.
Swans - 3/28 (Terminal West) Sleater-Kinney - 4/21 (The Tabernacle) The Psychedelic Furs - 5/26 (Variety Playhouse)
I saw Nine Inch Nails last year in Atlanta. That was a really good show.

Iron Maiden, Alice Cooper - 2012 Queensryche - 2011 Metallica, System of a Down - 2002ish? Tool - 2008 Alice in Chains - 2010, 2014
Besides Tool and Iron Maiden, my favorite was probably seeing Modest Mouse in a relatively small club when studying abroad in London in fall 2004. They had hit it with Float On in the US that summer so it was kind of cool to see them in such a small venue.

I go to shows weekly.
Some of the highlights from this past year:
Dr John Bassnectar STS9 (see them live, any chance you get) The Pimps of Joytime (maybe the best live show I've ever seen compared to studio work) RJD2 DJ Shadow and Cut Chemist Start Making Sense (a Talking Heads cover band that plays pretty much perfectly, they are also a Hall and Oates tribute band that plays right before SMS comes on, they just switch lead singers) Hudson Music Project last year, which was an absolute shit show, but was maybe the most fun 4 days of my life.
Planning on All Good this year, Widespread Panic is coming to Pittsburgh, My Morning Jacket is also coming, and Griz is next month.
A lot of local venues have free shows or shows for very cheap (that is when I got to see Pimps of Joytime, it felt like we, as an audience, stole something for not paying to see them) so I go out to shows every week, this past Tuesday was My Big Fat Booty Band which was a fun rock/funk show, great live band. Turkuaz was a few months back and they are just a great time if you get the chance to see them. The Budos Band also was something else live, ditto for Particle (which finally started touring again). Tauk is coming to town soon, then the week after it is Consider The Source, both solid outfits that I am looking forward to seeing, for free no less. Pokey Lafarge and the Traveling McCourys are coming too, if you guys are into bluegrass at all (which is an Appalachian staple, so of course we are around here.)
I agree with Skink that Modest Mouse is a great live show, I saw them at a small ice rink for like 10 bucks many years ago, and again at Hudson, both times they put on a great show, coming to town this year again, but their tickets were so pricey and they sold out (so I guess it was warranted that it was pricey) so now tickets are upwards of a hundred bucks. No thanks.
Not really into seeing many rock shows though, I just don't think they can do much different in a live setting as compared to more Jazzy/Funk/EDM/Experimental groups can.

I'm spoiled for choice living here and don't take advantage near enough. Off the top of head: Lacuna Coil -2013,2012 Lady Gaga- 2010 (in Boston) The Prodigy - 2009 (this was a religious experience) The Birthday Massacre -2009 or 2010 IAMX - 2008ish Muse w/ Cold War Kids- 2007 Evanescence - 2006, 2003 Rob Zombie w/ Lacuna Coil opening- 2005ish (Denver) Linkin Park w/ Korn - 2004 (Denver) Metallica w/ Linkin Park and Deftones - 2003ish (Denver) I went to Lilith Fair once and got to see Sheryl Crow when I was really big on her. Also got to meet Lacuna Coil in 2012 and they basically invited all of us to go eat Chinese with them the next day (I had tech rehearsal so I couldn't go ), but they remembered a bunch of us the next year when I saw them. Awesome group.

Man Knerys, that is an awesome list. Deftones, Korn, and Lacuna Coil are on my list of bands I would see. Metallica is too but I am not excited about them like I used to be. Still would be a good show to see.

Yeah I definitely got to see Metallica at a better time in life heh.
Lacuna Coil has consistently put up good live show. Scabbia's got some pipes. And they like to do some things in Italian which I love. I'm a little sad their bassist and original drum left though. :/

I haven't been to a lot of concerts. I want to start going to more. My most recent concerts were Miley Cyrus (don't judge me) last year and Maroon 5 a few years before that. Faith No More is touring this year, but no shows in Kansas City. I go back and forth on the idea of going out of state just to see them.

Do it. I have multiple weekends planned out visiting cities for the sole purpose of seeing music this summer. But I'll stick around for an extra day or two to check out the city too.
Live music is worth it.

And out of all those gigs, the best moment was The National in my hometown, Stoke-on-Trent in 2007. Their first track was 'Fake Empire' in this tiny venue and every single Stokey present knew the words to this track. You could see in the lead singer's eyes that he couldn't believe that 200 people in this tiny town in the middle of nowhere in England knew every word to a song that they'd only released a few weeks ago.
This is how he ended the set:
One of the best nights of my life.

Mate, Guns and Roses were the first band I ever loved at age 10 and they're the only one that I still love aged 32. There's a quality there that other bands can't equal.

Think about all the dogshit we were listening to at that age. The music that survived and that we still give a fuck about in 2015 is clearly something special. Nothing to do with nostalgia.
I'm just impressed that my 10 year old self was into November Rain!

I don't go to concerts too often and when I do it's bigger bands at major venues. I know some people who just like to listen to live music so they'll go anywhere. This year in southern California we're getting The Who, AC/DC and U2. I'm going to try to go to as many as I can. Concerts I've seen previously (off the top of my head):
Black Sabbath - 2013 The Who playing Quadrophenia - 2013 U2 - 2011? Eric Clapton - 2010 The Who Rock Honors (VH1 sponsored concert featuring The Who, Pearl Jam, Flaming Lips, Incubus, Tenacious D and ADAM SANDLER!)- 2010 AC/DC - 2008 Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young - 2007 The Who - 2006 U2 - 2005 Kansas (first ever concert) - 2003
So basically most of my concerts have consisted of 2 bands. I was however at the racetrack in Inglewood on their dollar beer nights a few years ago. After the last race the announcer said 'and be sure to stick around, we're having a surprise appearance by KC and the Sunshine Band!' So I guess I can say I saw them too.

I sorta want to see The Who again but my lord is Roger Daltrey's voice shot. Like I know people want to see him just to say they saw him perform with The Who but he should have hung it up years ago.

Who are the bands people have been most surprised by live?
I saw Damien Rice at Latitude festival in 07 and was expecting a slow, depressing set of tracks like:
and
Decent tracks of their own volition but not worthy of the last slot of the last night at a music festival, or so I thought.
Fortunately he played a massively upbeat set and told anecdotes between every song, at one point downing several glasses of red wine in between the beats of a story. He was bringing a butler out to pour all members of his band a glass, they'd down it in one go, then he'd continue. Every sentence was told with a relish only the Irish can muster when telling a story.
The audience was in the palm of his hand. I was hugely won over.
He also brought the Magic Numbers out to perform the last few tracks with him.
