Yes my wife and I are rewatching the MCU, mostly because there aren't many TV shows we want to watch right now and we can never agree on other movies to watch. So I'm going to re-evaluate the movies in order. I'm already a ways in, so I'm basically going to repost my point-form letterbox reviews, and maybe it'll strike some discussions. I'll also remake my ranking list as I go.
Iron Man 2008
Some points:
- I quite like Gweneth Paltrow in the movie, however Jeff bridges is surprisingly bad
- That Bunker suit is awesome
- Iron Man actually kills quite a few people
- After all these years, I still love the fire extinguisher robot
- Its probably good Terence Howard was replaced, as he didn't really seem like he wanted to be there.
- The jet chase scene is quite good
End credits scene: Probably the most important one. Looking back the dialogue is rather clumsy, but boy did it ramp up the excitement of nerds everywhere.
7/10
Ranking: 1. Iron Man

I feel like it really shifts after winter soldier.
The podcast newcomers is also doing this (although they are coming in fresh). Some semi okay commentary on them, some other really bad commentary. Nicole Beyer can be rather obnoxious in actively pronouncing things wrong and playing very dumb and celebrating it but it has its charms.
I'll admit I haven't watched iron man in a very long time, I do not think it would age terribly well, but perhaps I'm wrong and need to revisit.

I enjoy the first Iron Man, but definitely has some flaws as you pointed out. Though, this is probably the only Iron Man movie where it feels like Tony and his world are not apart of a mega Disney franchise. Feels a little more risqué.

I'd still say it's one of my favorite MCU movies.

Despite the end credits, it does feel like this was made as though it very well could have been a one and done kinda thing.

The Incredible Hulk 2008
- I feel Norton was the right choice for the "hitch-hiking" tv show version of the Hulk they were... kind of going for. But he probably wouldn't have worked in the ensembles.
- Abomination has a weird face. And I don't really like how much of a stock villain Tim Roth is. i.e. shooting the dog just to show how callous he is. Ruthlessness does not a good villain make.
- Liv Tyler is quite good in this. Feels like she's putting in more effort than anyone else.
- They set up the origin of The Leader (Hulk's arch-nemesis) and have still done nothing with it.
- There is some inventiveness in the action, like using the metal plates as swords/sheilds, and clapping to put out a fire.
- The editing and pacing feels choppy, which ultimately leads this to not being a very good film. Its possibly the weakest of the MCU.

Only been exposed to Nicole Byers as a guest on Behind the Bastards, where her contributions as a comedian were "hmmm, oh-kaaay" ad nauseum. It's a low bar to clear, but please tell me she brings more to the table.

The Incredible Hulk is the only MCU movie I outright dislike so far. The stuff with Bruce in Brazil at the beginning is pretty interesting, but after that, the movie rapidly gets stale and boring.
Even some of the other weaker movies, like Iron Man 2 and The Dark World, I still enjoy at least to some degree.

I'll go against the grain here and say that The Incredible Hulk is slightly better than you all give it credit for. That being said, they did introduce a few characters that got swept under the rug. I thought Ed Norton did a decent job at the time, but Mark Ruffalo is a much better choice to carry the torch. Ed Norton just doesn't have the same sense of humor to deliver the lines that Ruffalo does so charmingly. He takes himself way to seriously for that.

Iron Man 2 2010
Returning to this one, its actually a little bit better than I originally felt about it. The problems I had with it in the past, namely the shoehorning in of other outside elements, seem much less egregious looking at it in the context of the whole franchise.
Some other points:
- Seeing Scarjo in her first outing as Black Widow was interesting, as she is mostly undercover the whole time
- I don't know why they never brought back Justin Hammer at all in the future films. Sam Rockwell is hamming it up brilliantly.
- The dialogue on the ending rooftop scene is still pretty cringy.
- Tony really wrecks his house a lot.
- There are quite a few small moments of humour that work quite well. The movie is actually quite funny.

God, what a different time we were in when these initially came out. A month before the Dark Knight was unleashed. Or the day cinema died… according to Doomsday and SnoBorderZero.

Thor 2011
- Clunkier than I remember. The Asgard scenes in particular. I liked the on earth scenes far better.
-Really like Natalie Portman in this movie. She's funny.
- I'm not a fan with how the asgardians are just nebulously powerful. So Odin can just say words, or tap his staff, and Thor's cloak and armour can just rip away on their own? This is the kinda junk powers I hate in these movies.
- The scene where Thor is fighting his way to pick up the hammer is really solid.
- The design of the destroyer is cool, especially when it twists around backwards.
- Loki works really well as the villain, though he is definitely more serious here. Glad he loosens up in later movies.

Thor is one that went down slightly for me this time.
