The apparent lack of injuries does not disprove if Brown went for Wilson's gun. The picking and choosing of individual pieces of evidence by both sides of the argument on the internet is absurd. Everyone is a fucking forensic expert now.
That being said, the witness testimonies alone should have brought an indictment. It's been famously said that you could indict a ham sandwich. A grand jury is only supposed to discern if there is enough evidence for trial. Guilt or innocence should not be in question, and it appears that they were.
An eighteen yr old kid lost his life. That's tragic. It's also clear there is a wide chasm of distrust between the cops and their community. The cops handled everything incorrectly since the shooting.

I've been reading how Ridley Scott is receiving some flack for the casting of Exodus as well as his response to the controversy. I read thebtskink's post above mine and the part where he says 'Everyone is a fucking forensic expert now' made me laugh not because he was trying to make a joke but because how that idea applies to everything nowadays. Go read comments and commentary on Ridley's 'controversy' and they're loaded with 'Well Ancient Egyptians weren't physically similar to Africans in the way we know now' or 'Their bloodlines had Mediterranean in them' or some garbage. Everybody is suddenly an Egyptologist now. People talk about Christmas and say 'Well it's really ripped from paganism, more specifically the celebration of the solstice and Roman Saturnalia.' People read these blurbs off the Huffington Post and now they're experts on classical history and anthropology. This applies down the line with every.single.topic.
I love reading comments sections on articles yet the more I do the more I hate myself.

I heard that Dracula shut down the Mall of America. Congrats, man. I haven't set foot in that stupid fucking place in years so I could care less if it gets disrupted. That having been said, I frankly don't get why these protesters think raging against shopping malls and department stores and boycotting Black Friday is the best way forward. The Ferguson police department does not own any retail outlets and are not going to be harmed by boycotts of said outlets. Such protests would be better directed towards actual cops.

I'm not sure this will result in anything other than annoying people. I get that there's a movement to "create awareness" but there's a fine line between social justice and social anarchy.

Lately, every time a celebrity does something bad the gut reaction is to eliminate their movie or TV show from public consumption. This is the equivalent of being in school and one kid getting the entire class in trouble. Does anyone have any idea how many people work on movies and TV shows and other stuff in entertainment? You're screwing them over. I never watched 19 Kids & Counting - and I'm sure it was shit - but hundreds of people fed themselves and sheltered themselves thanks to that show. Don't cancel it. Don't remove it from airwaves and eliminate residual checks for people. Just eliminate the one asshole and march on.

I always thought the same when people would want to boycott a movie or tv show because of something one guy did. If anything, that person has millions of dollars they can fall back on while the gaffer and cameraman need to look for new jobs.

Remember when all the people boycotted Enders Game because the author is a homophobe? The author...of the book.
The boycott was successful and bigotry was declared "over" the following week.

In case you needed a reminder that it's 2015 and the 21st century, a "Vine star" and an "Instagram famous" girl made a sex video. He's 19 and she's 16 and people are debating if he should be charged with statutory rape. Can you imagine being these kids parents? I do not envy Frizzo the Clown and @dukeleto . You guys are test pilots facing challenges our parents could never anticipate. I wish you two the best of luck. Seriously. When I was 16, the only "social media" we had was LiveJournal. Yeah, people posted inappropriate things but that never went beyond the group of friends. There was no smartphones back then. Most people still had dial-up. I remember a guy made a video of him giving his girlfriend a lap dance and posted it. Do you have any idea how long it took for that video to load? Shit used to go viral back then too. We all remember that fat Star Wars kid with the lightsaber. But those were just a handful of videos. It's very different these days because it's WAY too easy to create and distribute content. Kids need much stricter supervision. And why is there social media stars? When MySpace came along if someone would have said that there would be MySpace fame, people would have laughed. Dane Cook and Tila Tequila were the most "popular" people we got back then. It was a joke. But now? It's very serious and should be scrutinized. There's no reason for a sex video of two teenagers to be floating around the MAINSTREAM Internet just because they're "social media famous." NOTE: Yes, Ramplate. I'm aware it's not a simple "sex video" and there's a larger issue here. But that's a discussion for another day.

Yea but remember that I am a tech genius. All google searches will be redirected by our router to a search result for tub girl. That should keep them off the web and away from sex for decades.

What if they did the deed in a country where they are both of age, could he still be prosecuted in the US?

Bill Cosby, in the 1960's, starred in the action series, I Spy. At the time, there was no Black stuntmen, so white stuntmen in blackface had to double for him. Cosby objected, and for the first time in television history, a Black stuntman was hired.
Now, a documentary about black stuntmen has removed Cosby from the film.
Um... rape is bad, but you can't pretend Bill Cosby didn't exist and erase him from history. The man has done awful things but he's also done great things. Life isn't black & white. You have to accept the complexities of it.

I'm sure you guys heard about the Black Lives Matter protester who started bitching at Bernie Sanders this weekend. Keep in mind that Bernie Sanders marched with Martin Luther King, Jr. in the 1960's. I know there's a lot of racial tension at the moment, which social media is making worse every single day, but can people chill for a moment? For the sake of argument, let's say this protester wasn't an idiot and Bernie Sanders was actually Donald Trump. Is this on-going pissing contest the best strategy? I've had mixed feelings about the Black Lives Matter movement since day one and now, nearly a year later, I'm getting very tired of it. And this is coming from a fellow minority - NOT a white person - and I'm sure many minorities are starting to feel the same way. People need to relax for a moment, think for another moment and then move forward with their social and political movements in intelligent ways. Relying solely on emotions and gut instincts is gonna self-destruct the entire operation. Attacking Bernie Sanders for no legitimate reason could potentially start the downfall of the Black Lives Matter campaign. Some people will be thrilled about that, but it will undo all the good things they've accomplished. So hopefully these people have the good sense to use this incident as a learning experience and re-think their plans.

"Black Lives Matter" is a great slogan, and their ultimate goal is certainly worthy, but I don't know if anyone really knows how to get there. Aside from maybe increasing the use of body-cams and making Internal Affairs investigations/proceedings more transparent I haven't heard much of anything in the way of actual policy proposals from that crowd. Maybe they should try actually running a candidate instead of just shouting and tweeting.

It's becoming 2015's Occupy movement. Like Dracula said they don't really have much of a message and now their strategy is to be disruptive. News flash: Bernie Sanders is NOT the enemy.
Say what you will about the Tea Party, they at least had a message and got people elected. It's why it still exists unlike Occupy and probably Black Lives Matter.

Say what you will about the Tea Party, they at least had a message and got people elected. Yeah, but the Tea Party also destroyed the Republicans. When you see Donald Trump leading the polls, that's not a good thing. Occupy Wall Street and Black Lives Matter may have their flaws but it didn't affect the Democrats or the re-election of Obama or the fact that Hillary Clinton or Bernie Sanders will most likely become President if the Republicans can't find someone who doesn't cater to the extremists.

The Republicans regained both chambers even after every political pundit in the country said that the Republican party was permanently dead and buried after the 2008 election. Nobody would have thought they would retake the House two years later and Senate four years after that. If there's one thing the Republicans have done very well it's rallying their base around a cause they despise whether it's Obamacare, gay marriage, immigration, or even Obama himself. Yes, Obama was reelected in 2012 but everything else has turned up Republican since 2008.

Democrats lose mid-term elections because young liberals are too stupid to know that mid-term elections are a thing. And yet, all those things happened because the majority of the American public wants them. That's why the Republicans struggle to re-capture the White House. Their main candidates are too busy catering to the extremists. They only win mid-term elections because people don't pay attention to it.

Yeah, we're agreeing with each other in a roundabout way and we'll eventually get to the same conclusions. In this generation a lot of young liberals especially minority voters were turned on by Barack and went to bat for him when he was up for election. It's funny though because even though he won reelection and the popular vote in 2012 the Republicans still increased their majority in the House and shrunk their deficit in the Senate to where they were able to it over in 2014. I think it will be interesting to see how the Democrat ticket plays out especially with Bernie Sanders gaining momentum. Frankly I don't think Hilary will win the primary let alone the Presidency. The only people really in her corner are the people who are only going for her because she's a woman. Everyone else is either backing Sanders or waiting for someone else to come along.
