Into it. Would hope 15 years is long enough for the market to have decided already.

Even Disney has had an assload of Newsom. I'm sure they'd rather have the Mayor from Jaws in office putting people in danger so they can make more money.

Their point is that all their other parks are open and are doing okay for the most part. Disneyland on the other hand just announced they're permanently laying off 28,000 people.

They're open because they're either in countries that did what they needed to do to get the virus under control first or they're in states like Florida that are willing to put people in danger and continue spreading the virus out of control. The virus is by and large still a problem because of dipshits like Disney deluding people into thinking it's "fine" to open up when it obviously isn't and trying to pressure people like Newsome into making stupid decisions and capitulating to their profit margins and the fact that he's one of the few adults in the room with the courage to say "no" to that bullshit makes me respect him all the more.

There's not a lot of evidence that Florida opening their parks has led to exploding numbers of cases though. They have a mandatory mask policy, they have a very limited capacity, some of their restaurants are still closed and they hired people specifically to sanitize their rides and as of now that seems to be working okay. Disneyland wants to do the same and people are desperate to go back to work.

We have 200,000+ dead in this country because every business thinks they're the exception and they can open up safely and "we shouldn't let the virus control our lives." It's an attitude that's killed thousands and also done nothing but harm the economy long term. The only way to really bring back jobs is to actually snuff out the virus instead letting idiots add more fuel to the fire right when we're on the verge of victory.

Well that just leads to the whole 'when is it really safe to open' argument, do we wait until the virus is completely and totally eradicated or do we try to open safely so people don't lose their jobs, homes, savings etc. We know that it's a bad idea to let loose and have things go back to the way they were but we also can't just lock down and stay inside indefinitely with no end in sight.

Covid dies in the sun. You’re not gonna catch it walking around Disney or Universal. As long as they have a curfew in place and keep up with sanitation and social distancing procedures it’ll be fine.

You slowly re-open when the virus has decreased to the point where any outbreaks can be quickly snuffed out through contact tracing. That's what they've done in places like South Korea, New Zealand, China, and Vietnam. Had Trump and his people gotten this through their thick fucking skulls we could have gotten this done months ago and been re-opened by now, instead they let assholes like Disney pressure them into embracing retardation out of a shortsighted panic and here we are in this endless cycle of fucking misery.

Instead they let him set the tone and then bullied state and local officials.

You mean billionaires. Most mom & pop operations have already gone out-of-business during the pandemic - and they had no real power to begin with. Other countries have bounced back quicker because they're not controlled by billionaires the way we are. This pandemic has amplified issues we've had since the Reagan era. We gotta vote for Biden. Our hands are tied in that matter. But going forward, beyond 2020, we gotta get rid of everyone in power. There needs to be a clean sweep of our government. But in order to do that, people need to get involved politically and actually vote. Not just for President. All elections. Mayors. Governors. Senators. Judges. You name it.

California propositions:
-Uber, Lyft et al. can list their workers as independent contractors rather than employees. -Felons can vote again... -...but 17 year olds can't even in a primary. -They aren't replacing cash bail. -Rent control shot down again. -Prop 15 was a big one that said some (see: most) commercial properties would have to pay property taxes based on current market value. Proponents said the taxes would go to schools, opponents said businesses would flee even more than they already are. Looks like that's going to lose.

It's to help pay for the MTA which hemorrhaging cash right now. It's.....not very popular because the MTA can raise money in a multitude of different ways. One of which is tackling it's rampant corruption.

I'm just afraid of when people in LA's city council catch wind of this. '$3 surcharge on packages? Why didn't we think of that?' That's when all those empty threats from people here of "I'm moving to Canada" or "that's it, we're moving to Texas" will become legit. Garcetti is already fucked in terms of being reelected, he should just go out in a middle finger way up in the sky blaze of glory.
