Exciting news indeed. Dying for Clerks 3 and really interested in Mallrats 2.

It's good to hear that Hit Somebody is finally going to begin shooting. After how great Clerks II turned out, I'm sure Clerks III will be equally interesting. It will be difficult to top himself after Kinky Kelly & the Sexy Stud, when it comes to being hilariously offensive, but I look forward to seeing him try.

Dante as a dad and "Uncle" Randall should make for a good story line.

Cant wait to start the drinking game how many shots does Dante have a cross visible on his body, here's a hint: all of them.

I like Kevin Smith as a person and enjoy the "panels" and "shows" he's done over the years, but I don't really care for his films.

I'm in a similar boat. I like him as a personality moreso than a filmmaker.

I enjoy pretty much all of it.
Even planning a trip up to his store in Red Bank this year with a good friend just to check it out in person. Will be a long drive from South Ga but looking forward to it.

They say a lot of things about Jibbs. Most of it not appropriate at the dinner table.

Hopefully Jeremy London is not invited back for Mallrats. Hasn't he had drug and law troubles recently, including shitting his pants in a cop car? Pretty sure that was him. He was also a weak actor anyway.
They should get his brother Jason to come play the role instead.

I have a new respect for Kevin Smith. I don't always like what he makes, but based on twitter interactions from today he's a responds to criticism with 100% class.

Wow, so 4 more attempts for Kevin Smith to make a movie that doesn't completely suck.

Red State wasn't bad. It also wasn't a very Kevin Smith-y Kevin Smith movie.

I like Clerks II, but it's a pointless sequel. Kevin Smith has never made a movie that needed a sequel. And the fact that his movies are "connected" is kind of silly too. I don't need to see Jay & Silent Bob in every damn movie he makes. They were completely unnecessary in Chasing Amy.

Disagree. Seeing Dante and Randall progress (or regress) is a great way to continue the series. We got them in their 20s, 30s, and now 40s. Going from clerks, to being a parent and business owner and who knows what is coming next. Maybe I relate to the characters more than you but I think it is a great series.
As far as it all being in one "universe", I do not see anything wrong with it. Is it really needed? No. If they were not connected though, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back would have been a totally different film then, probably not even possible. Again, imo I like seeing reoccurring characters intertwined in the movies. One of the reasons I love Tarantino's work too.
