Love this show, can't wait for the new season to start.
Most underrated show on television? I think the argument can be made. It astounds me how many people are fanatics about Breaking Bad, and yet aren't giving this great show a chance. Each season has better than the last, and we're beginning to cross over into Breaking Bad territory now.
Also still not sure why everyone keeps referring to this show solely as a prequel. It's been stated since the beginning that this is not a prequel, and they can take this show to during Breaking Bad's events and also well after it, as we've briefly seen in the cold openings of the season premieres. I feel like this show hasn't even come close yet to being at its best, and that's incredibly exciting.

Agreed. Though, hell, I'd even go so far as to say it's the BEST show on TV right now. Even without all the Breaking Bad connections, the quality of this show on every front is top-notch.

I showed the first few episodes to my uncle the other day. He said he wasn't a Breaking Bad fan but he seemed to enjoy Saul quite a bit.
It's a great show that gives great rewards to patience.

I still watch but it's not one I talk to anyone outside of this board about.
Just doesn't have that it factor like other shows do.

Excellent season premiere. Even without much dialogue for him in the episode, Odenkirk crushed it as usual.

Agreed. I feel like a lot of season premieres (that aren't the pilots) have been following a trend of being "catch up and set up" approaches, and this was no different but justified given it's been almost a year and a half since the last episode!
Loved the cold opening, Mike's sequence at the new job as security was very funny, and I think this season is finally going to be all about Jimmy's transformation to Saul, especially given that nasty line he delivered to Howard at the end of the episode.
This show just keeps getting better, and I have a feeling this season is going to be the most similar to Breaking Bad yet as Jimmy becomes Saul like Walter became Heisenberg.

Well, I'd just re-watched the first three seasons before this one started (literally finished the S3 finale again minutes before S4 began lol), so the transition was pretty seamless for me.
Second episode was great, too. The scene between Kim and Howard in Howard's office was fantastic -- really, the acting all around on this show is superb -- and I love what they're doing with the whole Fring/Salamanca storyline. Intense final scene for the episode in that regard. |

Totally agree, it's so well paced and there's so many little moments that I really enjoy.
For example, when Nacho is with his father, and Nacho is in the background shrouded in darkness while his father is well lit in the foreground laying out the money for him. It's a quiet, subtle scene, and yet undoubtedly powerful as we see the heartbreak on both of their faces.
And yeah, that scene between Kim and Howard, wow! Tremendous acting.
I've also gotten a kick out of how Mike has antagonized Lydia so far with his patrolling of the facilities, and when she calls Gus to complain he just outright dismisses her. Classic!
