What I've gathered is that there are certain contracts in place which prevent them from just putting it up on the internet whenever they want. It's possible that they can re-write those contracts, but it's not something they can just do overnight. |

It wasn't really Sony, the owners of the theaters are a bunch of pussies that almost immediately said they would not screen the movie period. It would have been foolish for sony to release it in what would have then amounted to a limited release.

I have a feeling Sony was behind the theaters folding. In their minds if the theaters folded it would give them a legit reason to cancel the film totally. They assumed it wouldn't make them look bad but they were wrong.
Probably cost them a pretty penny to get the theaters to announce they would not show the film but they are scared to death about those other files being released. North Korea is going to release them anyway, Sony is just too scared and stupid to realize this.
