Okay, I actually misread Tomorrow Never Dies as Die Another Day for some reason. My bad. That's why I was confused there.
In that case...yes, Tomorrow Never Dies > The World Is Not Enough. However, I only think GoldenEye is okay, at best. It has some cool stuff, but I didn't think its...I guess you can say grittier approach worked as well as it did for other people. Tomorrow Never Dies and The World Is Not Enough are the two Brosnan Bonds I enjoy the most.

GoldenEye 7.2/10 on IMDb 78% at RT Tomorrow Never Dies 6.5/10 on IMDb 57% at RT The World Is Not Enough 6.4/10 on IMDb 52% at RT Die Another Day 6.1/10 at IMDb 57% at RT Minor victory for Doomsday. Critics liked Die Another Day more than The World Is Not Enough. And for PhantomKnight, the audience rating for Tomorrow Never Dies and The World Is Not Enough is pretty close. |

Haven't seen World is Not Enough in awhile, but Die Another Day is the worst Bond movie. There's a reason they completely revamped the franchise after that piece of shit. Not even Moonraker made them do that.

For me the thing that puts World Is Not Enough lower than Die Another Day is that TWINE takes itself so seriously. It really tries to be a legitimate movie but it isn't and it sucks. Die Another Day is a big Saturday morning cartoon that KNOWS it's a Saturday morning cartoon. At no point does it try to take anything to another level other than camp town. On that base, silly level Die Another Day succeeds by remaining true to itself. TWINE fails because it thinks it's better than it really is.

We were talking about Natalie Portman movies at work and one of the people in my department had seen neither Leon nor Heat. A couple of us were on team Heat but most were on team Leon. We're going to let her see both with a fresh pair of eyes but I thought I would put the question out here to see whether I'm crazy or not.

Heat is clearly better, and I say that as the board's resident Leon defender.
Portman is definitely given more to work with in Leon, however.

People that never watch European movies. Dracula? It's been too long since I've seen it to really give a terribly intelligent take. I remember it having some cool stuff and particularly liking Gary Oldman in it, but it did not necessarily rock my world and found the depiction of the Portman character to be... odd, and with the rape accusation against Besson I'm less inclined to give it the benefit of the doubt. I probably prefer La Femme Nikita. |
