There are great scenes in Saving Private Ryan sandwiched between Spielberg tropes. Thin Red Line is on another level.

Ramplate is now going to beat up Ian. A fellow gamer? No lol I'd prefer a battle at the gaming table

Frankly I'm surprised Saving Private Ryan pulled this one out, I thought Thin Red Line would have been more popular on a movie board. Anyways, let's go on with a Christmas theme.
Casino Royale Skyfall
Raiders of the Lost Ark Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade
Inception Interstellar
The Godfather Goodfellas
Taxi Driver Raging Bull
2001: A Space Odyssey A Clockwork Orange
Wall*E Toy Story 3
Captain America: The Winter Soldier Guardians of the Galaxy
Pulp Fiction The Shawshank Redemption
Saving Private Ryan The Thin Red Line

Well, I liked Home Alone to some extent when I was a kid but have no use for it now. Then again I've always been largely indifferent to Christmas Vacation irregardless of age. I guess I have to vote for Home Alone by default... though voting for neither is probably a better reflection of my opinion.

"Home Alone", it's definitely a sentimental pick for me but at the same time despite its huge holes in logic it's a really fun movie that pulls on the right strings for the holidays. Not overly sappy or "kiddie" and it has Joe Pesci.

Neither are great, but Christmas Vacation has some solid laughs so it wins.

Home Alone it is.
Now, let's settle this business once and for all with this latest matchup.

Gladiator feels more legit.

I dislike Braveheart because Mel can't do a Scottish accent to save his life.

Gladiator ftw.
Which one do you think should take home the Best Picture prize this year? It's probably going to be one or the other.

I'd say "Boyhood", they're both pretty much on par with another but "Boyhood" is much more approachable than "Birdman" so that will possibly be the deciding factor. Which is stupid, but since when has the Academy been smart?

Boyhood seems the more likely choice.

So which summer blockbuster do you think trumps so far?

Mad Max without a doubt. I'd be very shocked if anything even close to it came out.

I really really liked Inside Out and it's the more thought-provoking film, but it's also pretty flawed. Fury Road on the other and is blisteringly awesome from beginning to the end.
The summer belongs to the Mad.

The Revenant was easily superior in every element other than of course humor. Hateful Eight was good, but we've seen much better work from Tarantino. Though I think both movies have way too low of percentage scores on Rotten Tomatoes right now, critics are missing the mark overall on both films.

Both are tremendous. I'm abstaining from voting right now.
