You think there will be a deleted "in the butt" scene when this goes to bluray?

That was bleak as hell.
It wasn't bad. It didn't quite grab my attention like Episode 1 of Season 1, but at this point I don't think it's really fair to compare them much beyond that.

Yeah, that was a much better episode, and that ending was great. This episode was much more mystery, less character back story.

Yeah, I mean don't get me wrong, this still isn't Season One to be sure. But this episode was much more... focused, I guess you can say. It seems like we're in the mystery now as opposed to building up to it, which is definitely a positive.

They ruined an awesome ending with Elvis and an eye rolling "twist". It also doesn't seem like we're getting a follow-up to Alexandra Daddario. To quote Inception, "son, I am disappoint."

Fans would be pissy regardless of Ray's fate. The only two outcomes and either one will upset viewers. He's either gone and they successfully got rid of the most interesting character of the series or he's still alive and people are going to complain about how stupid that is.
Keep watching and you may be rewarded with a pair of tits. Or you won't, and maybe the show will just get better. This week's episode was weak compared to episode 2. How many episodes do we have this season?

This week's episode was weak compared to episode 2. I heard Ballers was better than True Detective this week.

Haven't even tried Ballers yet. I watched the pilot. It's Entourage with football players. Not even Peter Berg could save that trainwreck. But people are saying that Episode 3 kicked ass. Apparently there's a great musical montage or something.

Haha I'll pass on that one.
I was actually interested a little until you said it was like Entourage.

Yeah I agree, it was a small step backwards from the second episode. It keeps teasing us to walk in on the "Eyes Wide Shut"-esque sequence, but nothing yet. Just a lot of brooding and melodrama that we already pretty much knew about, though I'm glad Ray is alive even if it's all a bit silly how he survived. I'm hoping from this point on that the mystery starts really going, because outside of Ray the other characters are just mildly interesting. In season one Rust and Marty were as interesting as the mystery itself, and any "deviations" from the plot were welcome because the character development parallels the investigation itself. Here it's not really the case, I mean the exchange in the car between Kitsch and McAdams was pretty eye-rolling and awkward, and not in a funny way. I'm all for developing the characters, but that's not the strength this season like it was in the first one. I want more of the mystery, more of the masked men, and more Ray-Frank interactions, those have all been easily the highlights of the season so far. I'm hoping that episode 4 is the big jump in the season we're waiting for. I'm pretty sure it's 8 episodes again, but I'm not 100% on that.

Well that was quite an end sequence. Not as wild as season one's romp through the housing projects, but that was definitely the most intense ending this season has dished up so far. I feel like in terms of solving the mystery they've taken very small steps each episode, but tough to complain after a pretty solid episode overall. Taylor Kitsch's acting was actually... good? And his story now is actually... interesting?

I must be crazy because critics scored that episode the worst of the season so far.
