Doctor Strange is the most expendable It actually isn't. Doctor Strange ties directly into the Disney+ shows. Six weeks is plenty of time. I think 1godzillafan is concerned about Marvel fatigue.

Love & Thunder and Multiverse of Madness look to be entirely different kinds of movies. This is how Marvel keeps fatigue from setting in. Gotta maintain variety.

Love and Thunder is going to have Tessa Thompson fucking other women. That movie is going to fight superhero fatigue all on its own.

Elizabeth Olsen would be perfect casting as Skeletor.

I'm torn on this one. On the one hand, I can certainly see why the theater chains would be angry with Universal for doing this. On the other, Universal Pictures hasn't exactly been rolling in box office money lately. They're not hurting as badly as MGM, Sony/Columbia or Paramount, but it's still not good for them. I'd check the numbers, but Box Office Mojo sucks now, unless you pay them money.

They’re biggest hits last year were Jordan Peele’s Us, Hobbs & Shaw, How to Train Your Dragon, 1917 and Secret Life of Pets.

AMC was threatening blacklisting Universal primarily because Universal announced they were going to do simultaneous VOD/theater releases in the future (yet again without having talked anyone else first). Poor communication between corporate heads, clearly, as they're trying to backtrack what they said now. All the major chains would probably block their movie releases if they were going to attempt digital release of their films day one.

Just Nicolas Cage in general was moved to March 19 2021. We decided with everything going on, we just didn't want to deal with him this year.

Kind of wish they'd just wait and see when the world is going to come back before they pick new dates... seeing headlines every damn time one of these things picks a new date is quite dull.

Everyone is gearing up for Tenet in July. Truth Is, movie theatres can’t afford to wait. They’re all on the verge of bankruptcy right now.

The theaters may be technically allowed to open, but most of them aren't. The local drive-in finally opened on Friday, but they're only showing Trolls World Tour, The Fast and the Furious, and Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone. All tickets must be purchased in advance, and every other parking spot is closed off just to make sure. The Alamo, Cinemark, AMC and Movie Tavern theaters are still waiting. I'm just going to wait for The Alamo to reopen. I'll no doubt take the entire day off and spend a fortune to make up for lost time.

As far as I know, there is only one AMC theater in my state and it's a five hour drive away, so this has literally no effect on me.

Does Idaho even count as a state?
I'd think that Amazon would only want some of the theaters not the whole business with debt included. I could see them buying specific theaters but not taking all the AMC classics and garbage theaters like those that barely make any money.

Might be preferable to a bankruptcy, but outside of that circumstance this would not be a good thing. As long as AMC is its own thing they have an incentive to fight for the continuing relevance of theaters since they basically have no backup plan, but in the hands of something like Amazon they could well be disposed of the second they become inconvenient.
