The National Association of Theatre Owners just banned "Google Glasses" and similar devices in fear that it would lead to increased piracy. Honestly... how would you even ban that? Unless you have an usher and/or security in every auditorium at all times, how would you even enforce that? If theaters can't stop being from using their cellphones, they're definitely not gonna prevent people from recording movies with high-tech devices. It's a lost cause.

I don't see why they can't wear google glasses. Or do people who pirate movies care that little about quality?

Do people who pirate movies care that little about quality? I'm assuming they're concerned because it records HD video. So if you're sitting in the right place, you can pirate a decent video of a movie.

I think they have a decent right to ban Google Glasses with piracy being at an all time high.

I think people with Google Glasses should be banned from all public place, on account of looking silly.

It sounds like a good deal for guys like John who go to the movies all the time. For me there are stretches of months where I never go, in fact I remember some years where I didn't go once between January and July or August.

I live in neither of these cities. They're testing it there. If it works, it'll spread to the rest of the country.

It might be something that would encourage me to go more often. As long as there's no loop holes or hidden fees, I would be willing to try it out.

variety.com/2015/film/news/4dx-movie-effects-rain-snow-warm-weather-1201469264Movie theaters are in for some very stormy weather now that CJ 4DPlex is rolling out its three newest effects: snow, rainstorm and warm air. The inclement weather simulations will be shared with the public for the first time at CinemaCon, the annual exhibition trade show taking place this April in Las Vegas. It’s part of what the company has dubbed its 4DX experience. The new additions join 4DX’s catalogue of standard effects, which include motion, water, fog, wind, air, lightning, bubbles, ticklers, scents and vibration. The idea of 4D theaters, which remain more popular in foreign countries than in the U.S., is to heighten the theatrical experience by pumping auditoriums with effects that mirror the on-screen action. CJ 4DPlex says that the new effects will create a more immersive experience for any on-screen floods, explosions, earthquakes, tornados and fires. It also arrives just in time for a summer movie slate that includes disaster films like “San Andreas” and apocalyptic adventures such as “Mad Max: Fury Road,” both of which will be screened by the company. Last year, the company used CinemaCon to announce its first U.S. theater roll-out, via a partnership with AEG, to add a 4DX experience to the Regal L.A. LIVE in Los Angeles. Other titles using their 4D technology include “Avengers: Age of Ultron” and “Furious 7,” which broke records when it hosted 30,000 moviegoers at Regal L.A. Live last weekend.

Gimmicky, but kinda cool nonetheless. I'd be down to try that for the new Mad Max, that might actually be pretty sweet.

Why don't these people just go ahead and shoot themselves first instead of making everyone else suffer.

The shooter was definitely someone with screw loose. He did at one time have his guns taken away due to instability (so I read) so he must have gotten one illegally
