I like Drac's list except pink flaminoes. I'm sure Solaris or Aguirre would work better there.

There's also Way of the Dragon, the Bruce Lee vs Chuck Norris movie. Maybe Dracula forgot it existed.

If Ian allowed documentaries, Herzog would have been inducted a long time ago.

The Godfather: No brainer Deep Throat: Yeah, I'm going there. It legitimized porn, demystified blow jobs, and brought down a president. Deliverance: Hillbillys are still trying to recover from this one. The Poseidon Adventure: Airport sparked the 70s disaster movie craze but this one solidified the formula and was probably the more influential movie overall. Pink Flamingos: Terrible movie, but a sort of cult icon. This but with Solaris instead of Flamingos

No. No. No. I'm with Dracula here. Deep Throat. Sorry, Cooper. Maybe next time. What would you cut from my list for it?

We should have one Herzog, and it should be Aguirre.

The Godfather - If you disagree you can sleep with the fishes, eh Fredo?
Aguirre: The Wrath of God - Herzog's masterpiece, brilliantly intense and infamous
The Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie - Bunel doing what he does best, satirize the upper class, and this is one of it not the best of his work
Solaris - Tarkovsky sci-fi
Deliverance - Fun, iconic film with great star power from its leads.

Hope you had a good vacation, Ian.
1. Rome, Open City: A pioneer of Italia neorealism and a timely reflection of the Nazi occupation of Rome.
2. Brief Encounter: A widely praised film which marked the arrival of David Lean as a major talent. This is also probably the best representation of his pre-Bridge on the River Kwai work.
3. The Lost Weekend: It's a bit melodramatic by today's standards, but for 1940s Hollywood this was a pretty bold examination of alcoholism.
4. Children of Paradise: An epic French production made during the German occupation. That kind of back story earns it some street cred. As an added bonus Francois Truffaut's a fan.
5. Spellbound: Really popular Hitchcock film.
Honourable Mentions:
Scarlet Street: I really like this movie, but it isn't list worthy and I know it.

I agree with Lost Weekend, but on a personal note, man was that movie boring. Alcoholism is one of the dullest subjects for film/television.

You guys can do whatever you want, but consider this...
DEATH MILLS
I know Ian HATES documentaries, but this one is too important to ignore. It features the first footage of the Nazi concentration camps. It was filmed by soldiers after Germany was defeated in World War II.
HBO aired a great special about it last month. There's two versions. The released version by Billy Wilder, which is more to the point, and a recently released version by Alfred Hitchcock that's more dramatic and emotional.

It's an interesting and important work, but I don't think we should just change the rules to include documentaries after we've previously deemed them ineligible.
