"Once Upon a Time in the West" is from 1968. We know it's from 1968, but did we actually include it in 1968? There has been a few foreign movies we shuffled around to make room for other movies.

I'm pretty sure we did, and it belongs in 1968. Released in December of 1968 in Italy, released in 1969 here in the States. Sometimes when a film is released at film festivals the year before I can see where there might be an issue, but in this case it's 1968.

Man, the Canadians have a weird alphabet.
The Chinese have over 20,000 characters in theirs; the Canadians have 1.

I actually have Z being recorded on TCM tomorrow morning. Probably won't be able to watch it until April though.

Cooper is right, "Once Upon a Time in the West" is from 1968. I think you guys are right on the money for this year! Midnight Cowboy Z Easy Rider Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid The Wild Bunch (the old man is exactly what I would've been in the wild west, that dude cracks me up every time) So it looks like this is what we're going with?

The Godfather: No brainer Deep Throat: Yeah, I'm going there. It legitimized porn, demystified blow jobs, and brought down a president. Deliverance: Hillbillys are still trying to recover from this one. The Poseidon Adventure: Airport sparked the 70s disaster movie craze but this one solidified the formula and was probably the more influential movie overall. Pink Flamingos: Terrible movie, but a sort of cult icon.

1. The Godfather: Duh.
2. Deliverance: Iconic, and for good reason.
3. Aguirre, the Wrath of God: Influenced a number of films, including Apocalypse Now and "Important Movie" The New World. Also probably Herzog's most famous film.
4. Solaris: Seems a pretty major and influential sci-fi film.
5. The Poseidon Adventure: Seems to have had a pretty tangible impact on the disaster film.
Honourable Mentions:
The Last House on the Left: I hate this movie but it's controversial subject matter is worth considering.
Cries and Whispers: Bergman seems to have made a lot of highly acclaimed films that just don't seem to be able to break into the list.
Pink Flamingos: I can probably be talked into this one, but as of now my cursory research suggests my other five are better choices.
