Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan: I was really hoping this could make it as it's the only Trek film that is really worthy of considering, but it's importance is mostly confined to the series which spawned it. How many items do we use today exist because someone saw it on Star Trek? How many engineers, astronauts and physicist become so because of this. If Wrath of Khan fails, there's no more movies, no TNG, DS9, no conventions, no tropes to poke at or pay homage to. If this list can only have one Star Trek film, this is the one.

It is the best Star Trek film, but yeah, this is a really tough year. Any other year and it'd be in most likely.

I'd agree.
Wrath of Khan does deserve a spot. It's earned a place in the pop-culture pantheon. Seinfeld (there are numerous references to Wrath of Khan and other trek movies) and countless other shows have parodied it to some degree. It's also just important to the franchise.
"KHAAAAAAAAAN"...

I'm half-kidding with Porky's. Porky's is the original teen sex comedy. Or at least the first proper one. It should be considered.

Porkys was the highest grossing Canadian film for a long time.
I may have made that stat up, not too sure.

All Sci fi. Sweet. Jibbs must be proud. Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid Midnight Cowboy Easy Rider Once Upon a Time in the West The Wild Bunch You forgot Paint Your Wagon. It was spoofed on The Simpsons, so it must be important.

Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid Midnight Cowboy Easy Rider Once Upon a Time in the West The Wild Bunch We already have Once Upon a Time in the West in for 1968. As far as replacement goes, how does "Z" sound? The first film to be nominated for Best Picture and Best Foreign Film at the Oscars, and its political anger and disillusionment seemed to strike a chord with Americans of the time. Plus the film on the whole is widely praised.

Great choice! There's also Age of Consent, which is hilarious to watch in modern times. Helen Mirren - yes, Helen Mirren - plays an underage nude model. Her nude scenes were actually censored in some countries. Helen Mirren. The old British lady. The Queen. She was young once. Speaking of sex... Even though it's an awfully outdated movie, Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice was groundbreaking at the time. Speaking of Helen Mirren... There's also the original Italian Job with Michael Caine. It is widely considered one of the greatest British films of all-time.

Cooper is right, "Once Upon a Time in the West" is from 1968. I think you guys are right on the money for this year!
Midnight Cowboy Z Easy Rider Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid The Wild Bunch (the old man is exactly what I would've been in the wild west, that dude cracks me up every time)
