We're getting rid of Apes? Even NE, the champion of "pop culture impact" doesn't see how big of an impact Apes had, with one of the most popular and revered movie endings?
THe Producers should make it over Rosemary's Baby, as should Bullet for that matter. I don't really see why Once Upon a Time in the West is considered, other then the fact that there are a lot of Leone fans here.

"Directors including Quentin Tarantino, Martin Scorsese, George Lucas, John Carpenter, and John Boorman have spoken about the influence that the film had on them. It is now considered one of the greatest films ever made and some critics consider it to be the finest Western and Sergio Leone's finest accomplishment as a director."

I think we should keep five. It's bullshit to say that every year only has 5 important movies. You're seriously gonna tell me that Steve McQueen's Bullitt isn't important? You're gonna keep denying that Knocked Up isn't important? And just wait till we get to 1984 and 85. I'm fine with 5 movies as the default rule, but we should have the option of expanding to more movies if necessary.

5 forces us to pick the best, the elite. Taking that away takes the fun out of it.

Yeah, expanding the field is a cheat, it would kill off the debate. Making these tough choices is what the thread is supposed to be all about.

5 forces us to pick the best, the elite. Taking that away takes the fun out of it. Like I said, I'm fine with 5 movies in general. But exceptions have to be made. 1968 should have 7 movies. That's accurate and fair. 1987 should have had 10. 2007 should have had 6. And, like I said, brace yourself for 1984 and 85. That's gonna be a bloodbath.

That's....5 exceptions.
When does it stop being an exception?

This is what its looking like so far: 2001 Once upon the west Night of the Living Dead Planet of the Apes The Producers With Rosemary's baby hangin' around and still being considered. But personally, I thik that all five of those films, and one other from this year (Bullet) are all more important.

I'll still say Rosemary's Baby. I never even hear about Bullitt anymore.

Are we seriously going to leave off one of the most popular and influential horror films ever made? Is this really happening? (NSFW if you watch the early part of the video)
I still think we should do what Dracula said earlier and make everyone happy, honestly, as that year isn't nearly as stacked..

Alright everyone: The Producers or Rosemary's baby? And remember, this is importance, not what we personally like or don't like.
I'm choosing the Producers even though I hate it almost as much as Coop.

If Rosemary's Baby wins, I will NOT support Chinatown in 1974. And trust me, 1974 is not one of Dracula's so-called "shitty years."
