It's so they can excuse the upcharge later on. It's so cheap starting out. Then when they jack up the price from 7 to 10 or whatever, they can validate it by saying they're adding a bunch of new content.

The fact that half of Disney's big Marvel announcements were streaming shows seems like another nail in the cinema coffin.
I'm sad.

I find it significant that all of the new MCU streaming TV shows have been explicitly stated as being directly tied to the MCU, and under the authority of Kevin Feige. Previously, Ike Perlmutter was shuffled off by Disney to be in charge of Marvel's TV shows, so that Feige wouldn't have Ike in his way anymore. If Perlmutter is being forced out of the TV branch as well, all the better. This is the same doofus who ruined The Inhumans.

So these shows are actually canon - for now.

Whether it was willingly or not, I don't really care. Just as long as he's gone.

Well the bundle is going to be a no-brainer to get, if Hulu is ad-free. Considering that's what we're already paying for it.

Will not stream on Amazon devices. I’m sure Roku’s will now come with a free month of Disney+.

Basically all Roku is doing there is licensing their name and letting them use their interface design so that dumb people will think they're getting two devices for the price of one when really they're just getting a regular smart TV with a second brand name added. I don't think that's sustainable, they're basically the next Tivo.

I definitely prefer a simple stick I can plug into my TV. They're compact and easy to move around if you need to, which also makes them great for traveling (hotels, AirBnB).
I kind of hate Smart TVs. I just want a TV. Not something that I have to worry about loading or updating. Just let me turn it on and go. I sometimes just disable the internet on the ones I don't use any of the features for. Then there's some Smart TVs that have licensing issues and don't include all apps (Amazon and Hulu among them).
As for the debacle going on, it's why I'll never buy something that has direct ties to a network. I'll take a Roku over a Fire Stick any day.

Those TCLs are great for the price. My sister has had one on her porch under one of those Lowe's pagodas for three years now, year round.

Roku up some 300% since their IPO last year. They are an ecosystem and people have taken to them more than the competition wishes to admit.
Their earnings calls are consistently impressive,my dad is obsessed with them, they advertise and crush their ads and basically all of their growth metrics are through the roof from just a year ago with minimal signs of stopping.
I wish I had pulled the trigger but to assume they are dead belies an ignorance of their standing within the industry. The biggest threat to them is the Amazon tv.
