I just finished Lies of Locke Lamora. Strong world-building, fun characters, and a constantly moving plot. Highly recommended. Now I am back to trying to finish Metamorphoses (which is basically homework at this point) and Malazan 9. The Kafka book? Isn't it like a novella at best? Light bringer was destroyed over 5 days and it was glorious. Doing a relisten now - couple decisions I felt were rushed so he could finish the book but still awesome. Have literally nothing else in the pipeline though. Buncha random books on presidents but nothing moving the needle. No, the Ovid metamorphoses.

Finally picking The Dark Tower back up with The Drawing of the Three. This rips, man. Just finished The Waste Lands. Really enthralling stuff continues. In the past few years, I've bounced between a King, or fun Sci-fi book, to a nonfiction, then back. I think I'll read Wizard and Glass next, but may take a breather before continuing on the Dark Tower. Wondering if I should try replicating the publication wait between IV and V, and I do want to finally read Fire & Blood.

Wizard and Glass done. Excellent stuff, and King's way better at romance in this setting than he gives himself credit.
Think I'll take a break for a bit, read GRRM's Fire and Blood intermittently before returning back.

Polishing off the ole hickory bio American lion. 7th president and he really changed things from the ole Washington machine to a completely new beast every new president. Previously people had replaced like 30 or so people over 4 years through appointments and things, after his first 4 years Jackson had replaced 900 members of the Old Washington guard kicking off what has become precedent for almost all presidents now - setting your entire team/appointments right out the gate.
Complex guy who was a real bastard but also had a commanding vision and was a powerful charismatic leader. Only 3 years of official school, an orphan - truly a different president from the first 6 and probably the most different from the next 38 or so too. Not my fave but storied and infamous for a reason.
Hoping to finish the seven moons of maali Alameda this time. But no guarantees.

I wasn't going to read Legion. Should I? It was a bit hit and miss. If you're not sure, I guess skip it? But there was some interesting stuff and maybe 3 standout stories. Plus one that takes place after the final novel with an interesting character.

Mainly read their presidential work but d mc has a lot of other work too - and he's from the Paris of the Appalachians.

If you like the books you should definitely check out the movie! My favorite part was when they didn't do any of the good stuff from the books!

Finally getting through Shogun in preparation for the series. 54 hours on audio. 6 books total the smallest is like 30 hours.
This could be a never ending series.

I've had the last week off in a staycation - tearing through Fire and Blood again, finally caught up to the show ~450 pgs into 750 pages.
Feels good being on the read-ahead side once again with this stuff. Really well written once I got into the cadence of the historical writing

Oh, and after having the read through the 80's X-Men Inferno crossover earlier this year, I've picked up my next collection in House of X / Powers of X.
I don't think I'll ever be an issue by issue reader, or that digital subscription, but I can do collected paperbacks of celebrated runs.
