Haven't seen Eraserhead, so...no comment. Fair. Avoid spoilers. Just let the movie wash over you.

I'm not a fan of Eraserhead by any means but I'll definitely give this a spin. I can all but guarantee that I'll enjoy your video more than I enjoyed the movie.

Fairly solid intro for the uninitiated.

Heh, the Wizard of Oz line gave me a laugh. I can't say this makes me want to watch a Kevin Smith movie ever again but it's still a really solid video. I've said many times that he's frequently on LA radio stations and it drives me goddamn nuts that every time he's on he manages to worm Empire Strikes Back into the conversation because 'he's such a Star Wars fan, look out!' He also frequently brings up how he cried at the end of Force Awakens which is either a total lie or proof that he's a complete loser. Anyways he as a person drives me crazy and it's almost as if he has no desire to even make a good movie anymore which is why I think you were correct in stopping your video with Clerks II. At first I thought 'what, no Tusk?' but it's clearly for the best that you didn't include it. Nice video, probably my favorite of the ones you've made.

This video took a fucking long ass time to make so I'm glad it came out okay. Regarding Smith's current persona, there's a clear shift in how he presents himself now compared to in the 90s and the early 2000s. If you watch his "Evening Specials", you see a clear shift from a filmmaker talking about his work to the more cartoony "geek" he presents himself as now. He's actually pretty laid back in old interviews.

Nice video.
Funny story, when i first started to watch it, I only heard the music, no talking. Something with my headphones. So I thought would have just edited a really poorly done music intro to the video. So I skipped ahead, same thing. Skipped ahead, same thing. I thought "dan, why did you make a 25 minute video of just Kevin smith clips set to music?" Then I wiggled my headphone cord and it worked.

It was a good essay, but a bit of cheating. Every Post-Askewniverse movie was sited except for the good one- Red State. On the whole, I agreed with most of what the video had to say. It seems kinda odd to have left Red State out just because it wasn't weed induced nonsense like Tusk. One good movie doesn't mean Smith hasn't been coasting for the most part lately. All it means is that he can be good when he is really focused on doing a good job so that he doesn't embarrass himself in front of actors he respects like John Goodman, Michael Parks and Melissa Leo.

I do like Red State, or, at least I find it an interesting and ambitious project. I didn't include it because I wanted to focus on the Smith movies that were important to my teenage years. By the time I saw Red State, I was starting to grow out of Smith and only watched the film once. I'd be curious to watch it again, but either way it was never a text that really spoke to me, and even if it did, it would have felt awkward to foreground it.

Nah, Red State is pretty garbage too. Most people know Kevin Smith for the View Askew movies, I think it was good to stick to those.
