By the way, you mentioned the ending, that could be your next video if you wanna whip out something quick. Some versions do end with Old Man Noodles which would support your thesis. You can talk about how that’s a superior conclusion than returning to the opium den. When I first saw the movie in the 1990’s it didn’t have the opium ending so I wasn’t exposed to the whole “it was a dream” theory till the 2003 DVD. I was fine with the Old Man Noodles ending so I don’t really disagree with you but the “it was a dream ending” is good too , I guess. Persuade me to take a side. My tl;dr stance is Old Man Noodles is a great ending to the plot, but the opium den is the perfect thematic ending. Not just to OUATIA, but also Leone's filmography, which was all about escapist fantasy.

PG CooperWhat if... Noodles dies at the end? We see the gangster walk into the opium den and Noodles get alerted, but what if that was part of the hallucination and he never left? They say that life flashes before your eyes before you die. They also say that chemicals are released in your brain to allow your body & emotions to accept death. What if that ending with him smiling is the last moment before those gangsters burst through the door to kill him. We see the flashes to his life and the Old Noodles as a relief to the pain. Food for thought

Haven't watched it yet but they're clearly asking the wrong question. It shouldn't be "should we still be watching" it's "should we still be lauding." Aside from, like, child porn there's basicly no cinema that shouldn't be watched and considered at the very least.

Aside from, like, child porn there's basicly no cinema that shouldn't be watched and considered at the very least. To sum up both videos, he's not arguing against Gone With The Wind but in favor of better historical media. Why is Gone With The Wind still the Civil War movie and something that apologists can still use to politicalize their cause. This is a movie that should have been replaced in the cultural zeitgeist by now. It’s not too far from an argument i once had with PG Cooper in which I disputed the notion that 1939 is the greatest year in cinema history. Who’s saying that? A bunch of old crusty white men? Culturally, we moved on from that with 1967 and 1999 and so on and so forth. The notion is that this movie promotes ignorance, not that the movie is inherently bad. He admits this movie can still be enjoyed and celebrated as the story of a bitchy Southern belle that gets her comeuppance, but instead, it’s promoted as a sweeping epic of Southern pride. And all because audiences haven’t been re-educated. Hollywood doesn’t want to offend the South by directly tackling their ideology.

Big fan of Patrick. Looking forward to this even though I've watched the Schumacher films recently enough to know they are still horseshit.

While I give him credit for making this video more than your standard clickbait that just says something to stir the pot (ie 'Godfather III is actually the BEST Godfather!) there's no convincing me that the Schumacher Batman films aren't garbage regardless of Schumacher's intentions.

Figure I should update my new doubt legion of fans who I are wondering where the next video is. Well, I'm actually working for my University making educational videos for the Intro to Film Class, so I haven't really been able to work on my own stuff. Lately in particular has been tough, given Adobe grinds to a crawl when I run it while also ripping Blu-Rays/DVDs so, whenever I'm not editing for school, I'm ripping footage and can't work on my own stuff. But rest easy, Eyebrow Cinema will return before too long.

Guess who's back? So I've been away for a while, but I'm returning to Youtube with a vengeance. This is the first video in a series covering all 39 films in Criterion's massive Ingmar Bergman Blu-Ray set. This first episode looks at Bergman's directorial debut, Crisis, and considers it as a thesis statement for the rest of his career. Some of you might think that sounds pretty cool, others might think it a big waste of time. For the latter, you should know these videos will be a lot shorter than my recent output. I'm aiming for around the five minute mark, so I won't be asking for a lot of your time. For the Bergman scholars on this board, I really encourage you to chime in. Giving the limits I'm setting on myself, these episodes will only scratch the surface of any given work so if you have more to add, please do so.
