The movie opens with Kylo massacring people in order to obtain a device that could lead him to Palpatine. Why? Just start the movie with him arriving on the planet.
Palpatine created Snoke. Why?
Palpatine has an armada. For what? First Order is doing fine.
Palpatine offers Kylo the chance to be Emperor. But... he’s already in charge.
The Dark Side leads to a path that would seem unnatural. How about exploring that some more, J.J.

So there was some stupid scene with Poe & Finn. I wasn’t paying attention. Now we see Rey training which should have been the scene following Kylo & Palpatine’s encounter. The scene literally ended with Palpatine saying, “she’s not who you think she is” and then they cut to Poe & Finn. Cut to Rey. Dumbasses.

I would respond by proposing that we not compare Rise of Skywalker to movies with reasonable storybeats, but it steals so much goddamn shit from Empire and Jedi and does it ineptly that it's pretty impossible not to. |
