Hmm...I haven't seen The Awful Truth but like Cary Grant. I'm probably going to check that one out.

Two disks for a 96 minute film? Considering the huge amount of storage space available on a bluray, that seems like padding. Edgar Wright movies have massive amounts of extras on them, but still manage to cram the all onto one disk.

Edgar Wright movies have massive amounts of extras on them, but still manage to cram the all onto one disk. It also includes the feature length "workprint" cut of the film, which likely takes up the remainder of disc one, and then the rest goes on disc 2.

Picked up the two horror releases and Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me. Shame this didn't happen in March when the really good stuff comes out.

I was going to wait for a sale to get Criterion's disc of Night of the Living Dead, but the price kept dropping on Amazon and I figured it would be even more foolish to NOT get it now while the price is hot. I think the only blu-ray I got even cheaper than this from them was I Married a Witch.

Dammit! My Before Sunrise disc doesn't seem to be working. Email Jon Mulvaney, they might replace it for you.

Nobody has updated the thread in a while but it looks like you all got your goddamn Tree of Life Criterion release at the end of August. Now with newly restored dinosaurs and supernovas.

Its 50 minutes longer and has an awful cover. I'll stick with my regular release.

Can't wait to start rummaging! I got my eye on The Awful Truth. Maybe pick up some Japanese cinema I haven't seen yet, like Kuroneko.

Barnes and Noble 50% off sale starts today. With Toys R Us shutting down, I wonder how B&N is doing these days. At the rate we're going, Walmart and Target might be the lone survivors of brick & mortar stores.

They're doing pretty bad, but unlike Toys R Us they don't have some Bain Capital nonsense weighing them down so they're holding on.

Thanks for the heads up, Doomsday.
Picked up Persona, Barry Lyndon, 8 1/2, and Pan's Labyrinth this time around.

I'm going to try and limit my spending per paycheck this time. I picked up The Awful Truth because I've been on a Cary Grant kick. The only other title I got was the Eclipse set When Horror Came to Shochiku, which I knew I had to pick up because I've wanted it for years but some jerk always picks it up early on in each sale. I'M THE JERK THIS YEAR, BITCHES!
I have my eye on Make Way for Tomorrow, Woman of the Year, The Uninvited, Kwaiden, Kuroneko, and various Ozu releases. Let's see where the month takes me.

A good buddy of mine has been recommending for months and months that I blind buy the Apu Trilogy. I haven't watched it yet and I hesitate to blind buy a box set that's on sale for $50 but he's claimed repeatedly that 'I won't regret it.' Who can vouch for him and give me a yay or nay?

I'd vouch for The Apu Trilogy. If I were doing my top 100 list again today they'd be on it. Have you tried seeing if it's available to borrow from a library?
