The Bad News Bears Criterion is a gift from the movie Gods. They're packaging it with The Newton Boys and Fast Food Nation. Fast Food Nation is Linklater's best movie.

I wrangled up Blood Simple, McCabe & Mrs. Miller and Akira Kurosawa's Dreams during the sale. I think that's it for the time being although I'm tempted to pick up the Samurai Trilogy now that Hulu doesn't carry Criterion titles anymore.
Speaking of, has anyone tried out that new Filmstruck yet? If there's a free trial I might indulge when I have some time off next month.

The problem is that there's no way to watch it on an actual TV. Right now it's only available on computer browsers, IOS devices, Android Devices, and Amazon fire and that is not the proper way to watch classic film. They say they're expanding to Apple TV next month and Chromecast and Roku in "early 2017" but I have zero intention of buying any of those just for this either. When they make an app for PS4, Xbox, my cable box, or smart TVs I'll give it a chance.

Does anyone know how the Pans Labrynth Crit. compares with the regular blu release? DVD beaver only compares it with the region 2 release.

I don't have the specifics, but the original region A blu-ray is kind of infamous for being worse than the region B blu-ray. It had a bunch of bad digital noise reduction. I can only assume that the Criterion BR is a lot better.

I just started watching my copy of Pans Lab, and yeah, I think I'm gonna get the criterion. There's a lot of DNR. The colours seem really soft.

Alright, so the Criterion community has come to the following conclusions: A: much as I'd like the cuban flags to be I am Cuba, the copywrite around that is locked up and the music notes suggest it's The Buena Vista Social Club B: Ghost Whirl = Ghost World C: Apichatpong Weerasethakul's The Mysterious Object at Noon D: Pagnol's The Marseilles Trilogy E: A "D" Pan for Deephan F: Tampopo G: Unknown H: Unknown, Though maybe G and H together are arsenic and old lace I: Unknown J: Unknown K: Unknown L: It's stalks of corn so maybe Stalker, though that might be a stretch M: The Prince"S" Bride N: Sixteen Candles O: Probably part of A P: They Live By Night Q: Probably just background R: Blu-ray upgrade of Jeanne Dielman, 23 Commerce Quay, 1080 Brussels

The one with Black Face. The one with a Black actor. Or the one with Mekhi Phifer as a basketball player.

Hey, that movie is fucking awesome though. The cinematography is gorgeous. The scene near the end where he lurches over her bed lit by candles is mesmerizing.
What the hell is Scorsese's World Cinema Project? And there's two of them?

I'll be honest, I haven't heard of a lot of the stuff that Criterion has announced the past few months.

So the Black Face one. How timely. It's more of a bronze face one. The Laurence Olivier one is the blackface one. What the hell is Scorsese's World Cinema Project? And there's two of them? They are boxed sets of sort of lesser known movies from around the world (specifically non-European countries that don't get as much exposure) which have been restored by Martin Scorsese's company. www.criterion.com/boxsets/1258-martin-scorsese-s-world-cinema-project-no-2
