David Fincher was offered Star Wars VII but he turned it down because, according to him, you can't make The Empire Strikes Back in 2014 so he has nothing to offer the franchise. What do you think? I think he's wrong. There's nothing more mainstream than Star Wars and that includes The Empire Strikes Back. If he wanted to make a dark and serious Star Wars with little action and lots of talking then he should have. Look at Harry Potter. That's exactly what those later movies are. Harry Potter doesn't even throw a punch in the entire series and the franchise grossed over a billion dollars.

At this point I think Fincher is pretty much set in his visual style and I dont think that style works for Star Wars. Or at least not for the regular run of star wars. A knights of the old republic or something along those lines though, now that would be interesting.

That Nitty Gritty series is wonderful for the thrillers he makes. But it would be exteremly hard to translate to Scifi especially something like Star Wars.

I think Disney should open the newly acuired movies from the vault for another release on Blu-Ray that is the original release. No extra CGI, no voice changes, no removal of old Anakin.

I'm sure they will... eventually. Although it should be noted that Disney doesn't own the original Star Wars. That one still belongs to Fox. It's the sequels, prequels and spin-off's that Disney owns. Although I'm sure they've made special arrangements with Fox to avoid any headaches in the future.

By the way... it's gonna be super weird when the new movies are released and it's the fucking Disney logo. The Fox logo and the musical fanfare are a big part of the Star Wars saga.

This is Joe Johnston (The Rocketeer) and John Dykstra (Spider-Man) at a Halloween party in 1976. That's 7 months before Star Wars released.

Knew Johnston was behind the Boba Fett design. Didn't know he was responsible for Darth Vader as well.

There will be 8 seconds of adjusting, and then the first note of the Star Wars theme will blare, and you'll completely forget it.

We lived through the Columbia logo in James Bond movies, so we'll survive this too.

Rumor has it that they might rerelease the original, non-Special Edition trilogy to coincide with Episode VII. Finally, an excuse for me to pick it up in disc from (maybe).

I just want a version of the OT with saber color consistency. Matching the PT would be nice. Despite the many, many renditions and releases, the lightsabers have never once been truly redone or corrected in their entirety. It always drives me crazy, because it seems like such an obvious thing that needs touching up.

FanibleJibbsKnerysFrizzo the ClownDeexanJustinRamplateSomeone's uncle in Virginia passed away and they found Mark Hamill's 8th grade records in a box. Apparently, he worked at Mark Hamill's school and when Star Wars was released in 1977, he stole the records from the archives. Crazy!
