I do not believe that the aspect ratio is changing for imax, unfortunately.
No news on a 4K yet, but remember that this is star wars and they usually dont get released in new formats until later.
The 3D version is being released later this year, which may include the imax shots.

The DVD is out today, and I bought a digital copy from Amazon.
Not bad!for a SW movie - certainly way above the prequels.
There is about 2 hours of extra content after the movie about the making of the movie. The beginning of which is a rather long Pat on the back and awe stuck "gee, how big is this?" Moment from each of the people involved, which gets rather monotonous after a while and you wish they'd just get on with the rest of it.
Then it goes into more interesting things like deleted scenes, casting, filming on location, sets, creatures, fight scenes, special effects, and music.

You got it early? Or are you april fooling us? Because if you did, thats a good deal, its not supposed to be out till Tuesday. The digital version is out today. DVD/Blu-Ray is out on Tuesday. Although, I think people who pre-ordered it have had it for a few days. |

Man why does regular dvd gotta wait longer. Disney is no different then George and how about they cut the cost on the older star wars dvds. 120.00 Dollars for all 6 previous films. and Ewoks on amazon is 80 buck's a dvd.

I swung by Wal-Mart tonight to buy the BB-8 steelbook and they were sold out. I was disappointed, but not because they were sold out, but because they had an entire gandola filled with the regular blu-ray. Did they not anticipate people preferring the BB-8 steelbook and stocked appropriately? There's no reason for them to have a hundred blu-ray's on display and not one single steelbook. Target and Best Buy don't fuck up this badly. You can buy their store exclusives YEARS later. I bought Batman Begins and The Dark Knight on steelbook in 2012. 2012! Wal-Mart, seriously, get your shit together. You should have at least a thousand BB-8 steelbook's at each store.
