The prequels were not that bad really. Not as bad as people are still hooting and yelling about. Disney may have a big cash grab moves here but people are gonna wonder what Lucas had instead of them. The Fans hate and love George. When you say your making the movie for Fans. What they did was make a copy of new hope best they could but made The hero A Girl and We get Finn our real damsel in destress. When George says the fans will love it. I think he is saying the fans will get something they think is good or maybe think thats what they want.
I kinda like that George is aware of the fans but acts like each movie is a first movie he write or has done. I will enjoy all The Star Wars films likely but will always kinda wonder just what was Lucas story gonna be.

Last i checked the prequels made over 2 billion dollars. People are acting like they were all flops. Yes I get it fans hated the movies but still those same fans come back every time. There are things that George can do things and invent things new in the world. That others can only mimic. No matter how much this movie makes these same fans could still come back and complain if the movies end up being copies of what Lucas did.
There gonna have too make the blend of new world effects and too make it work in the time frame.

What I mean is if this makes lets say Avatar cash does it make it a great movie. I myself would be ok if it makes 300 million state side and did not beat Episode 4 B O wise and was a good movie. I myself liked the movie just fine. But i can see some failures as well as successes to which the Prequels did ok on and not as horrible as people are harping on. I have a question after The Hobbit which movies too a great franchise most dissapointed people.

You know what 3.5 star rating I really want back? Spectre. Spectre was my The Force Awakens this year, it was a movie from a franchise I loved which had kind of gone to shit recently and I was so happy to get an installment that kind of felt like the old ones I loved that I lost all perspective and over-rated a movie that was pretty damn flawed. The actual Force Awakens by contrast I think I pretty soberly analyzed, I object to people claiming it's some sort of classic, but as a modern action movie I think it works quite effective. 3.5 stars is the same rating I gave to Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation and I think it hangs in that company pretty well. |

I gave it an 8. After 3 viewings, an 8 it shall remain.
Saw it on IMAX 2D this week and it looked incredible. I didn't even realise there were full-size IMAX scenes when I saw it in IMAX 3D.

I'm happy with the 8 I gave it. Not as good as the original trilogy of course, but a lot of fun and well executed. Would've been better if the story beats weren't retreads (and not as good of retreads at that) of A New Hope, but I'm expecting better things when a stronger filmmaker in Rian Johnson steps in for the next installment.
