I have seen a total of one of those movies. Before last Wednesday that number was zero. Judging by the list that one movie was the only one worth seeing. King of the Monsters? I was thinking Statham.

Between Caitlin Clark finishing her college career ringless and the Rock “winning” Night 1 of Wrestlemania, SnoBorderZero and PG Cooper forgot that new movies opened this weekend. Monkey Man (a.k.a. Indian John Wick) is in 2nd with $10.1M. The First Omen in fourth with $8.3M. Godzilla x Kong remained in 1st with $31.7M ($135M). Ghostbusters in 3rd with $9M ($88.8M). Opening next weekend is Civil War starring Kirsten Dunst and the man that stole her from Doomsday. Is this movie a domestic drama or an allegory for Trump’s America? Guess we’ll find out.

City traffic was a bitch this weekend because of it. Rain finally stopped though. Thank God none of the other teams had scheduled home games.

Civil War opened at #1 with $25.7M. A victory for A24 fans and those that still masturbate to Kirsten Dunst. I think Doomsday falls into both categories. Next week: Abigail and the Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare. Those are two separate movies. Not the title of donny’s autobiography.

there's no chance in hell both this movie and the new Planet of the Apes open on the same day. One of them's gotta move. That is, of course, if everyone is okay with Fall Guy kicking off the summer season. Does Ryan Gosling have that much goodwill from Barbie? Fall Guy commenced a slow start to the 2024 summer movie season. It opened to a disappointing $27.7M. The 25th anniversary re-release of Phantom Menace was #2 with $8.7M. Challengers dropped to 3rd with $7.5M ($29.4M). Tarot opened in 4th with $6.5M. Planet of the Apes opens this weekend.

Planet of the Apes hater Doomsday is beside himself as the latest in the franchise opened to $58.4M. Not quite mega-blockbuster numbers, but much better than last week’s Fall Guy. We’re really feeling the effects of last year’s actors and writers strike. Opening this weekend are IF (starring Dooms’ old pal Ryan Reynolds), The Strangers: Chapter 1, and just so Dracula has something to watch, the Amy Winehouse biopic Back to Black.

Saw Furiosa in IMAX. Honestly would see it again just to support the movie. It's really a shame how poorly it performed last weekend.

Inside out gonna do a billion dollars? That's pretty wild. Pixar’s death was declared prematurely. The pandemic, along with Disney+ shenanigans, hurt them for a bit, but let’s not underestimate parents desire to get their rugrats out the house. I guess Pixar will be all sequels all the time now.
