Gone Girl and Annabelle were neck-and-neck this weekend. Gone Girl grossed $38 million and Annabelle grossed $37 million. These are just estimates so stay tuned for final numbers tomorrow.
Opening on Friday is Dracula Untold, Robert Downey Jr's The Judge and Disney's "Bad Day" movie with Steve Carell and Jennifer Garner. But my guess is that Gone Girl will continue to dominate thanks to strong word-of-mouth.

That's the highest opening week gross for a Fincher movie so far.

David Fincher fans have a lot to be excited about. Gone Girl is #1 again at the box office. It grossed $26.8 million this weekend and it's domestic total is now $78.2 million. It's on track to surpass Benjamin Button as Fincher's highest grossing film. Congrats. Dracula Untold is #2 with $23.4 million. And, Robert Downey Jr's The Judge flopped at #5 with $13.3 million. It got beaten by Steve Carell's kiddie flick and Annabelle.
Opening this weekend is Brad Pitt's WWII drama, Fury.

Brad Pitt's Fury is the #1 movie this weekend with $23.5 million, but David Fincher fans shouldn't cry because Gone Girl has reached $100 million domestically. Congrats, you guys.
Opening on Friday is Bill Murray's St. Vincent, Keanu Reeves' John Wick, and the Ouija board movie.

I remember sneaking in a bottle of Vladimir vodka (7 bucks a handle) with friends to see Saw. It was an incredible experience. Still have fond memories of that movie.

Between trick-or-treating and partying, Halloween is ALWAYS a slow night for moviegoing. As a result, the #1 movie this weekend, Nightcrawler, only grossed $10.9 million. But whatever. Interstellar opens on Wednesday and Big Hero 6 opens on Friday. That's what everyone is excited about and I'm sure both movies will be HUGE successes at the box office. Stay tuned till then.

The #1 movie this weekend, Nightcrawler, only grossed $10.9 million. Nevermind. The estimates were off. Ouija is #1 again. It grossed $10.7 million. Nightcrawler came in #2 with $10.4 million.

deadline.com/2014/11/interstellar-big-hero-6-box-office-1201274335Interstellar hasn’t quite broken through box office’s gravitational pull. The Christopher Nolan sci-fi opera, which opened on 249 screens before a 3,500 screen invasion Friday, took in less than originally expected. The pic collected $1.35M over the first two days, distributor Paramount reports this morning. That’s about $5,400 per screen and slightly less than the studio expected, prompting many to drop the three-day forecast from $55M-$60M to $52M-$55M. Still, with a running time of nearly three hours, the studio has framed Interstellar as a long-distance runner, not a sprinter. And Fandango reports that its outpacing pre-sales of Gravity, which took off to $55.7M on its way to $274M. The picture bowed on election night Tuesday.

Weekend Estimates
1. Big Hero 6 - $56.2 million 2. Interstellar - $50 million
You can blame the 3-hour running time.

Or blame the fact that most families are more interested in seeing a movie that both kids and adults can enjoy.

You can probably blame the critical reception to an extent as well.
The lady and I nearly saw 'Big Hero 6' instead of 'Interstellar' as well this weekend, but opted not to since the theater we were near has an Ultrascreen (comparable to an IMAX if you're unfamiliar) and we thought 'Interstellar' might benefit from that more. BH6 next weekend.

Yeah that was expected. Even if the sequel isn't as good as the first Dumbe and Dumber people will go in droves for this one.
It might be Jim Carrey's big come back! What's next "The Mask 2?"

As much as I love The Mask, I don't think there's an audience for a sequel. A true sequel, I mean. Not that Jamie Kennedy bullshit.

Weekend ESTIMATES
1. Dumb and Dumber To - $38 million 2. Big Hero 6 - $36 million ($111.6 million) 3. Interstellar - $29.1 million ($97.8 million)
Opening on Friday is... The Hunger Games. So... bye bye, Interstellar. You shouldn't have been 3 hours and had a bad sound mix. Better luck next time, Chris Nolan.

People were expecting it to do as well as Gravity, but they're forgetting that Gravity was 90 minutes long and about human emotion and not scientific babble.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay opened to $123 million this weekend. That's not as much as the other Hunger Games, but that's because Mockingjay doesn't have a wide IMAX release.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay opened to $123 million this weekend. That's not as much as the other Hunger Games, but that's because Mockingjay doesn't have a wide IMAX release. Also because it's the least-favorite book among the fans, and also because people just might be getting tired of this half-a-movie nonsense.
