Final numbers are in. Top Gun: Maverick opened this 4-day Memorial weekend to $160.5M domestically and $300M worldwide. Dracula , PG Cooper and SnoBorderZero in shambles. Doomsday signing up for Scientology as we speak. I've sent PG Cooper seven copies of Dianetics over the past couple years. He hasn't responded but I'm wearing him down. I've heard that if you want revenge on someone and you have their address and phone number, giving said info to the Church of Scientology will ensure they never stop receiving junk mail and calls from them as long as they live. |

I've done a similar thing more than a few times with the TrueCar app. Not sure if you've ever used it but you basically plug in your contact info, put in the specs for a car you're eyeing and it links you up to dealerships all around you to give you the best deal. The problem is, well, you're getting calls and emails endlessly from car salesmen. For weeks. So if someone is rubbing you the wrong way then you should get their phone number and email and see if they're in the market for a new Civic. Or Sonata. Or F-150. Or all of the above. |

Doctor Strange, meanwhile, has reached $388.7M domestically and $909.4M worldwide. Opening on Thursday is PG Cooper’s most highly anticipated movie of the summer, Jurassic World: Dominion.

More noteworthy is the fact that Maverick only dropped about 30% in its second weekend. That's pretty crazy.

I'm gonna blame the Disney+ theatrical to streaming window. It's harder for parents to justify spending 50 bucks to take their kids to the movies when it's gonna pop up on Disney+ without a premium paywall next month.
Encanto similarly didn't take off until it hit D+ and I suspect the same for Lightyear. Sadly this is probably justifying Disney's decision to dump Pixar's content on streaming for the last few years.

In stunning news, Top Gun: Maverick returns to #1 at the box office with $30.51M ($521.7M total). It has also become the second movie of the post-pandemic to reach $1B worldwide. Spider-Man: No Way Home being the first. But Dracula isn’t the only one celebrating this weekend. SnoBorderZero has been waiting two years for that Elvis movie and it delivered at the box office too. It’s a photo-finish #2 with $30.5M. Good to know the musical biopic is alive and well. Will we finally get a Beatles movie? Michael Jackson? SnoBorderZero, you and Doomsday work in Hollywood. Get to work, sir. Jurassic World: Dominion is #3 with $26.4M ($302.7M total). The Black Phone is #4 with $23.3M. And yes, that means Pixar’s Lightyear is officially a flop. It dropped to #5 with $17.6M ($88.7M total). Is PG Cooper working on his Death of Pixar video essay? Maybe the movie will find new life on Disney+, the way Encanto did. But that basically means it’s now relegated to straight-to-streaming fodder. Quite a downfall for the once cherished animation company. Opening next weekend is the Minions. Will it suffer the same fate as Lightyear or live on to torture 1godzillafan? Stay tuned. |
