PG CooperWas it the director's cut of Halloween 2 you were watching? I understand it's actually pretty different from the theatrical version and has a bigger focus on trauma. It was. From what I understand the theatrical cut is actually tricky to find on dvd/blu ray at this point. |

I have a double feature copy of both Zombie movies on one Blu-ray disc. It's compressed to shit, but I prefer the theatrical of the first one to the director's cut. The director's cut of II is less choppy than theatrical though, but I don't know if it "improves" anything other than the ending. Other than that, I think Vudu has the theatrical cuts. But last time I looked at the first Rob Zombie movie it was at a zoomed aspect ratio and I was like "fuck that." |

Reading through the changes of II on imdb, I do think the director's cut is a lot better. Though on some level if you hate what Zombie's doing in one version you may well hate the other too. To defend The Terminator for a second. If you're a robot assassin it would seem to make sense that you are going to want a maximally effective arsenal if you can, and given that he's already going to have to murder this gun store owner to get any guns he might as well steal a few other guns while he's at it.
As to why they sent an Austrian bodybuilder to be an infiltration unit... presumably, those T-800 androids are all a uniform large size to begin with and adding extra flesh on top of that is going to kind of unavoidably result in your spy being kind of a large person until they can make a customizable model. Also the machines presumably don't understand the intricacies of human society and didn't perfectly optimize for accents.
