If the video is longer than en extended trailer I can not commit that kind of time to it unless it is a movie.

If the video is longer than en extended trailer I can not commit that kind of time. It's worth watching. This was before Titanic became a billion dollar success. Jim Cameron is actually concerned about the movie flopping. He even tells Howard how he gave all his money back to the studio. Later on when the movie became the record-breaking success the studio gave him a bonus check of like $100 million. But at the time of the interview he hadn't made any money in 3 years. He wasn't even making money from Terminator because the studio went bankrupt. He also talks about wanting to make Spider-Man with Leonardo DiCaprio. He told Howard he wanted that to be his next movie and that the script was complete and ready to go. This was back when MGM owned the rights. They later on gave the rights to Sony, in exchange for some James Bond rights they had, and they made the movie with Sam Raimi.

Most of the buzz surrounding Titanic before it's release predicted that it would bomb. It was constantly being compared to another ocean based movie that cost a fortune from a popular director and tanked, Waterworld.
I can't help but wonder what's going to happen when the Avatar sequel finally arrives. Does anybody really care anymore? Sure, the foreign market will probably go see it, as long as it's just as flashy as the first one.

Nowadays I'm only interested in Cameron if his name is attached to Terminator. Couldn't care less about his 12 Avatar movies.

I can recall clearly how convinced everybody was that Titanic had gone way over budget and was going to be the biggest flop of all time.
It just goes to show that gossip disappears in comparison to actual reviews of a quality production.

He basically made the movie for free and didn't expect anything back! What a gutsy man! Much respect

I'm more excited for that than anything Avatar-related.

If I go to any of the Avatar sequels, it will only be because there's nothing better to see. T2 is always great, and even better on the big screen.

I might actually go. I don't like 3D but T2 played such a crucial role in my development as a film buff that it feels wrong to pass on seeing the film in theaters.

Can't they just re-release it in 2D? Is this part of Cameron's desperate attempt to keep 3D relevant while he spends 28 years developing and filming Avatars 2 thru 6?

I've yest to go to a 3D re-release. This will not be the first. Honestly this seems more misguided than usual as far as these things go. Something about that movie just seems intrinsically two dimensional outside of the small handful of T-1000 scenes.

Better than the 1st one but not as good as 3 thru 5.

Nah, it's just a reboot of the first movie. Probably because of all the money "Force Awakens" made.
