My trust was shaky when he announced Avatar 2. It went even lower when he announced Avatar 3. The rest disappeared with Avatar 4. I just got pissed with Avatar 5. Don't pretend all of those things happened on separate days. |

The colors and shading were perfectly fine as is. There is absolutely zero reason to oversaturate the brightness. This will look like shit within 5 years. Since 3D glasses make the screen look dark and desaturated, I have to disagree. |

That still comes down to theater ownership, projector quality, and the bulbs used. Which is why IMAX 3D remains the best way to see 3D movies, because of the dual projection and brightness, plus being so strict on how an IMAX theater is being run. They do not permit owners of theaters licensing IMAX to touch either the projectors or the audio. Only IMAX technicians are permitted to look at or make adjustments to the projectors and most of everything else is controlled remotely from IMAX headquarters. If something goes wrong, the theater just has to be shut down until one of them can fix it. IMAX does compensate for any losses during these periods.
A lot of theater owners that have run-of-the-mill RealD won't setup their projectors bright enough for 3D, so they can save on the wear and tear. Plus a single projector just doesn't compare.
Not to dis all regular locations. Plenty of chains and owners try to do well. One of my local theaters' "Big Screen" locations is pretty damn good. Still not as good as IMAX in many regards, but they make sure the projection on 3D films is plenty bright. It doesn't hurt that the screen itself is top notch as well.

I didn't see them on the big screen, my mom walked me out of the theater.
My friends and I did manage to get my sister's VHS tapes out of her room though. The benefit of VHS vs. theaters is that with VHS you can pause and rewind, pause and rewind, pause and rewind, pause and rewind, pause and rewind, pause and rewind, pause and rewind, pause and rewind, pause and rewind, pause and rewind, pause and rewind, pause and rewind, and pause and rewind.

My mom thought 12 year old Doomsday would somehow be warped by seeing boobage on the big screen. She didn't consider that nothing could stop me from being as warped as I turned out to be anyways.

There's no way we're gonna see a boob, but watching hundreds of people die a horrible death on a sinking ship is totally fine.

My dad only really didn't allow me to watch ferris buellers day off, he thought it would gimme ideas for skipping school. Which it did. And I skipped a ton.
But my dad delayed me by a year or so. Silly parents.
But my parents bought me my titanic tickets for me. Sent me right in with my one friend - they had zero interest in watching it.

Even then, I watched Fatal Attraction and 9 1/2 Weeks before I hit puberty. Showgirls and Striptease (with Demi Moore) both came out before Titanic. But Kate Winslet will forever be the first PG-13 titties of a whole generation. I’m right there with you guys. |
