Yeah, Renoir was probably a bad choice. I'll stick to more contemporary guys.
Let's try... The Coen Brothers.

I'll stick to more contemporary Or less... foreign. Cool movie. I don't know what I would rate it. I haven't seen it since high school. But probably a "B". Their love letter to Sam Raimi. Great movie! It has its moments. The music is great though. Good movie. Although it's more "artsy" and complicated than it needs to be. I'm probably the only person who loves this movie. Oh well. A classic. A classic. Eh. Eh. Eh. Eh. I don't love it as much as Dracula does. I don't love it as much as Dracula does. I liked it when I saw it, but it's largely forgettable. It's a respectable remake. If you wanna call it that. It's on my DVR. Chill, Sno. Chill. I'll get to it. RANK1. The Big Lebowski (1998) 2. The Hudsucker Proxy (1994) 3. Raising Arizona (1987) 4. Fargo (1996) 5. Blood Simple (1984) 6. Barton Fink (1991) 7. No Country for Old Men (2007) 8. True Grit (2010) 9. Burn After Reading (2008) 10. Miller's Crossing (1990) 11. O Brother, Where Art Thou? (2000) 12. Intolerable Cruelty (2003) 13. A Serious Man (2009) 14. The Man Who Wasn't There (2001) 15. The Ladykillers (2004)

I'm not the biggest "Raising Arizona" person either, I thought it was going to be a lot different than it was. It got a little too ridiculous by the end of the film, and it's tone is kind of all over the place. I gotta give it another look, but I thought it was good and amusing and not up to par with their later works.

Raising Arizona has moments of comedic brilliance, but it also loses me in a lot of places. It's a fun movie, but far from the Coens' best.

1. No Country For Old Men 2. The Big Lebowski 3. Fargo 4. True Grit 5. Inside Llewyn Davis 6. Blood Simple 7. Barton Fink (I'm one of the ones who digs this movie) 8. Burn After Reading 9. O Brother, Where Art Thou? 10. The Man Who Wasn't There 11. The Hudsucker Proxy 12. Raising Arizona 13. Miller's Crossing 14. A Serious Man 15. Intolerable Cruelty
Haven't seen The Ladykillers. And everything from 9 and up are ones I can say I either like or love.

I hate any movie that stars Woody Allen, except his early funny ones, so let's just say Match Point and Midnight in Paris.

Yeah, I need to see more of him, he's just so hit or miss and has made so many damn films. I love the guy, but you are right he's inconsistent, though he's never made a movie I straight-up hate. Zelig is his worst that I've seen, but it's mostly just a misguided project that didn't fit his sensibilities than a true bomb. But yeah, he makes a lot of mixed to average films.

Yeah, to be fair though, he makes so many movies that it's bound to be up and down. He's made some really good stuff, "Manhattan" is a glaring omission on my part and is a film I've been meaning to watch for awhile.

Hannah and Her Sisters is great too, and kind of a perfect embodiment of Allen's classic themes, characters, and stories.
