the Sergio Leone portion of the film course Whaaat??? Man... I remember back in the 90’s when no one gave three fucks about Leone. Yeah. Saturday (or Sunday) afternoon you’d get a Clint Eastwood marathon on TNT with the Dollars Trilogy thrown in, but that was the extent of it. Bro... I still remember when TNT finally aired the European cut of Once Upon a Time in America but it was at like 3 in the fucking morning. I had to stay up for that shit but it was fucking worth it. Even though it wasn’t the actual Leone cut. It was probably like a compromised version in between the butchered American version and whatever Leone showed at Cannes, but it was a wild ride nonetheless.

It's been a while since I've seen it but I remember it kind of feeling like a sort of bootleg Godfather and that the sex, violence, and sexual violence felt more exploitative than it did in some of Leone's other movies.

I'd recommend checking it out again (when you have four hours to spare). The sexual violence in particular is very important to the film's critique of the gangster archetype. As for being a bootleg Godfather - there is some validity to that, certainly the films have pretty similar visual styles, but I would argue OUATIA is doing some fundamentally different things.

I'm team Dracua on this one but like Drac I probably haven't seen it since high school so at least 15 years give or take. I just remember it being a huge bummer of a movie and almost wanting to take a shower after watching it. It's definitely one that deserves a rewatch but I've never really been in the mood.
As for the Leone filmography:
The Good, The Bad and The Ugly Once Upon A Time in the West Duck, You Sucker For A Few Dollars More A Fistful of Dollars

So because of your Leone selection I went onto his IMDB to see what other movies he's made that I could check out sometime. I had NO idea that he only directed those handful of films (including Colossus of Rhodes which I haven't seen). I'm actually pretty blown away.
