Ha, I read that too. As most people have correctly pointed out though, it's nothing that we haven't already known about John Wayne. It's a pretty incredible thing that people are so desperate to find things to complain about that they have to dig up a 50 year old interview with a guy who's been dead for 40 years and then act amazed that a guy born in 1907 and a star of several movies with questionable at best depictions of Native Americans just might have some opinions that could be considered controversial. Congrats, you called out John Wayne, you're a hero. USC’s School of Cinematic Arts has removed their John Wayne exhibit, following student protests www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/usc-removing-john-wayne-exhibit-student-protests-actors-racist-comments-1302888

For the record, The Pest (1997) is fucking terrible, but the opening credits are amazing. It even doubles as the closing credits. That’s how awesome it is.

Doomsday and his brother (who also posts under his username) hanging out with Laura Dern on the set of David Lynch’s Wild at Heart.

I've posted about it before but a few years ago when I took my nephew to see Black Panther I was telling him about some easter eggs. He told me he didn't see them and I said 'it's okay, you'll catch them when you watch the movie again.' His dead serious reply was 'why would I ever watch a movie twice?' I was shocked, floored, taken aback but at the same time for a Gen Z kid it probably doesn't make sense to him to rewatch a movie when every single one is at his fingertips. He will never understand the era of rewatching a VHS of Batman or Last Crusade over and over and over and over again. Quoting a movie verbatim is a lost art that will die with us Millennials.

Gen Z watch reruns of the Office on loop. Your nephew might be an outlier. But there’s truth to the notion that streaming has changed people’s relationship with media. We watched was available and became attached to it. Kids these days have choices. Even if it’s watching the Super Mario movie 50 times per week.

Because back in the 80s and 90s your options were whatever movie your parents blessed you with on your birthday or Christmas. Maybe, maybe if you're lucky they'll buy you a new Disney movie to watch with the babysitter while they plowed in a hotel room for the night. You watched the shit out of them not only because you loved them AND because you had limited options.

Starting in the mid-90's, when I was 4 or 5, my family would rent movies nearly every weekend and have a night where we would have dinner in the living room while watching whatever we watched. And if we really liked a movie, we would rent it more than once.
That's how Hook became one of my all-time favorite movies.

I rented Beetlejuice so often from the video store that they told me to keep it.

My mom didn't let me see Batman Returns in theaters, I had just turned 7 when it was released, and I was devastated. As soon as it came out on VHS though she rented it for me. Show me the logic. It wasn't long before she bought me a copy so I would stop hounding her about renting it again.
