Dracula Doomsday thebtskink 1godzillafan Wyldstaar My BK got the “impossible burger”. Haven’t tried it yet, but I’m hearing that in spite of it being plant-based meat, it has more fat than real meat and so in essence it’s actually worse for you. Any thoughts on this? Is this fact or propaganda? The BK here is doing a huge promotional push so I’d hate for people to be suckered. I don't think the fat content is the selling point with the "impossible burger." It's an option for vegetarians, which is something that tends to be very limited at fast food joints. People expect to get food that's bad for you at a place like Burger King. People who are vegetarians can afford to eat the occasional food that's not good for them far more than the rest of us can, so more power to them. Personally, I like me some dead animal. I'd be willing to try an impossible burger out of curiousity, but nothing more. Besides, I don't got to large chain places for burgers. There's a fantastic mom & pop burger place nearby that's just as cheap at the chains, but far better in quality and bigger in size.

I was listening to a BBC science podcast and they gave me a reason to see the spread of vegetarian burgers as something hopeful. If society has eventually reached a place where a vegetarian choice becomes viable and accepted due to social pressure, then perhaps the same can happen with something like alternate energy sources.

DraculaI’m eating the Impossible Whopper. Tastes exactly the same. It’s a very lean patty so I don’t see how it has more fat than a regular patty. I took a bite of just the patty to see if there’s a difference. It’s maybe a tad more salty, for the sake of flavoring, but that gets lost with the rest of the sandwich. As a whooper it tastes identical.

My favourite part of that article is the caption below the photo: "French fries and a fried chicken sandwich are arranged for a photograph at a Chick-fil-A restaurant." Michael Nagle | Bloomberg | Getty Images

I had heard its not totally vegan, but I don't know what was added for flavoring. in any case, the Impossible company hasn't gotten FDA approval, because they engineered their soy or whatnot in a lab, but they don't need that to sell their [products

While I feel for the loss SnoBorderZero will soon be experiencing, I find it difficult to care. I haven't entered a Wendy's this century. I also live in Texas, and there's no shortage of beef around here. Kincaid's, my local burger chain of choice, has been sourcing their beef locally since 1946.

IF I CAN'T EAT A BACONATOR SOON I'M GONNA LOSE MY SHIT! NO, A FROSTEE ISN'T "GOOD ENOUGH", SIR! I haven’t had fast food in 6 weeks. I don’t miss it. I’ve had fun bullshitting my way through the kitchen. Not gonna pretend I’m a 5-star chef but I’ve surprisingly managed to execute a wide range of dishes.

I try to do as much of that as I can, but by the end of the week I'm craving some delicious garbage. Doesn't help that on TV they show commercials for those Popeye's chicken sandwiches all the time.

I'm occasionally in the mood for Little Caesars, but the one in my neighborhood is run by people so stupid that they keep forgetting to breathe and pass out. They don't know how to answer their phone, and they don't know how to operate the online portal. I occasionally get some from the location in my brother's neighborhood when I visit (which I haven't been able to do in ages).

Wendy's square patties have screwed them. If they'd rounded the damn corners off they'd have enough produce to last another month.
Dave in R&D warned of this potentiality!

The only manager?! My first job was at a Burger King, and we had four assistant managers and one general manager. The franchise owner must have been trying to keep costs down to a completely impractical level. BK is open seven days a week from 6am to midnight at most locations. No wonder the GM quit.

The implication is that everyone quit.

I would think Burger King would have some kind of system where they have "floating managers" who can roll out and deal with vacancies like this.

I would think Burger King would have some kind of system where they have "floating managers" who can roll out and deal with vacancies like this. That sort of thing would be dependent upon the owner. We have no way of knowing how many locations the owner has. There could be only one, or there could be dozens. The location I worked at was one of only two BKs the franchisee owned. There were no floating managers, and no real need for them, since the owner permitted enough managers to keep the place properly staffed. I don't think the implication is meant to be that everyone quit, otherwise the sign would say that. Regular employees don't have the keys, so if there's no manager, they can't open.
