I consider The Good, the Bad and the Ugly as 66. It is, but it wouldn't have qualified for those Oscars. The Good, The Bad and The Ugly was fully financed by United Artists and is technically an American movie. The Oscars wouldn't have accepted the December 1966 release date as official. The same thing happened with James Bond. The first two movies were released in Europe first and then as a double-bill in America. The Oscars ignored it because they were American movies disguised as British. That's why Goldfinger is the first one they acknowledged. That one had a proper American release. Yeah, that would be my alternate choice. Although I really love Cool Hand Luke. No. Paul Newman for sure. It's arguably the greatest performance of his career. Besides, Warren Beatty plays Warren Beatty in every damn movie. He was the George Clooney of his day. Did she seduce you? Over George Kennedy? You're crazy. lol. I thought people were gonna give me shit for that. I was indifferent towards all the Supporting Actresses. I went with the Oscar choice because it didn't bother me. I hate when real life stories are called "original." Even if the movie is full of bullshit, it's still based on real people and events. That's why I put it in Adapted Screenplay. I went with Cool Hand Luke, but The Graduate is great too. I don't think one is better than the other. It's just a case of preference. Yeah, that's my alternate choice. Interesting. I have no idea why the movie didn't get nominated. Did they not see that fucking volcano set? Talk about blunder. I would have gone with Cool Hand Luke as my alternate. Interesting. JibbsAgain... how was this not nominated? They did not see that opening scene? I mean, yeah, it looks silly for our standards but that was mindblowing in 1967.

The Oscars ignored it because they were American movies disguised as British. That's why Goldfinger is the first one they acknowledged. That one had a proper American release. I also wanted it in my back-pocket in case we do 1966. Cool Hand Luke would probably be my alternate. You might be right. I can't help it. Love Spencer Tracy. I don't know if I actually feel it's award worthy, but it's a memorable role and I have to work with what I've seen. Same. None of my options really wowed me. I mostly went with The Graduate for subtext reasons. Truth be told I probably prefer Cool Hand Luke. Conrad Hall rules. It has serious pacing issues, but the action scenes are put together pretty well. Movie is terrible, but that song is catchy. I'm also not terribly fond of "You Only Live Twice". Too mellow for my tastes. I guess "The Look of Love" is pretty mellow too, but I like that song. In general the Academy has treated the Bond series like shit. I understand these movies aren't the kind to be pulling in Best Picture nominations (even if I ran the Academy I'd only put a few up for that prize) but how they were snubbed in technical and musical categories so often is bewildering.

I just... I can't even... It was bad, and then I saw "Waterworld" winning, winning anything at all. Ugh. It's an action movie that takes place on water. Even Doomsday is a fan. Yes, and it's done extremely shitty.

Yes, and it's done extremely shitty. Kevin Costner drank his own pee. That deserves an Oscar.

Gangster's Paradise will likely be played at my funeral.

Never seen it, can't fathom 3 hours of Costner doing Waterworld 2: On Apocalyptic Land. You can't hide behind Doomsday forever!

I never saw Waterworld although I did see the Universal Studios show when I was about 12. It was pretty good. I saw The Postman before but not recently. Yeah it's pretty terrible.
