I like how he keeps announcing sequels without even making one yet. He's making them. They're motion capture & CGI fests. That's why they're taking so long to be released. Making an Avatar movie is no different than making a Pixar movie. It's just a bunch of people sitting behind a computer.

The First Movie He must have just watched Pocochantas and had some drugs and his dream became Avatar. Cause really some scenes where there up link ability kinda comes off like they are raping lizards and horses into submission.

The rumor around the old Hollywood mill is that Fox wants to avoid having another decade-long time gap between sequels and has told Cameron that he has to submit scripts for all sequels before he can start the first one which is what's contributing to the holdup.

Assuming Cameron is even alive in another decade. How old is this guy? 60? 70? These Avatar sequels are his last movies.

But are people still going to care that much about Avatar by the time this movie comes out?

But are people still going to care that much about Avatar by the time this movie comes out? It's James Cameron. We're all gonna watch it - even Doomsday . Especially if it introduces new technology. The effects of the original Avatar are still being felt. The fact you and Fanible are gonna watch Doctor Strange in IMAX 3D proves it. That wouldn't have even been an option pre-Avatar. The most we got back then was Spy Kids 3D and Journey to the Center of the Universe with Brendan Fraser.

But are people still going to care that much about Avatar by the time this movie comes out? He just needs to put out one awesome trailer and everyone will be back on board. If he can do that, he should be fine.

I'll see it. It would have to look like poo and/or get really bad reviews for me to skip it.

What if Cameron pulls a T2 on us... and makes Avatar one look medicore compared to the sequel.... I'm just saying we have no idea where this Movie is going or where it could go.

Neverending is disappointed that it's not Piranha 3, 4 and 5, the followups to his favorite James Cameron work.

Shocker: Avatar 2 Won’t Release in 2018 www.comingsoon.net/movies/news/824087-shocker-avatar-2-wont-release-in-2018posted on SHH: James Cameron has always been a bit of an egomaniac. It doesn't surprise me that he wants to make four more films. I bet he thinks that, because the first film is the most financially successful film ever created, there is a demand to see a franchise. I don't know about anyone else, but I can't seem to remember Avatar ever really going mainstream after its release and the hype died down; no one was really talking about it those subsequent years. Today, the only time anyone mentions it is when they push back the release date of Avatar 2 every couple of years or when there's anything related to the theme park. We all know Cameron is insanely talented, but does he really think that his fans and the average film goer will want to endure almost 10 years of Avatar that almost no one asked for? I'd rather see him work on brand new ideas.

This has the potential to once again bankrupt Cameron's production company. He's clearly operating under the assumption that anything he makes turns to gold. While I'm sure that Avatar II will perform well at the box office, it isn't going to get the same sort of repeat viewings the original enjoyed. After that, there's no guarantee that anyone will care. I give him credit for believing in what he's doing, but lots of creators have a vision that only appeals to them. That's what happened to Emperor Lucas, and Avatar is no Star Wars. The film came and went so quickly that there isn't a generation of children who spent most of their childhood playing with Avatar toys. It's just a movie, and not a particularly good one.

Avatar and The Passion of the Christ are two movies that everyone has seen, and yet absolutely no one has talked about since their releases.

Avatar and The Passion of the Christ are two movies that everyone has seen, and yet absolutely no one has talked about since their releases. That's not entirely true... The Christian community brings up Passion of the Christ a lot. People who love Transformers and those Fast and Furious movies (the brain-dead audience members) do talk about Avatar as well. Trust me these guys will be showing up for Avatar and it will hit over a billion guaranteed. Will it spill over and get everyone on board so it can hit over 2 billion dollars is the real question.

James Cameron is, like, 80 years old. He's not gonna live to 2025. Doomsday will have to take over and finish these movies.

Assuming that Part 5 actually comes out in 2025... James Cameron will be 71 Steven Spielberg will be 79 George Lucas will be 81 Martin Scorsese will be 83 Clint Eastwood will be 95... or dead thebtskink will make sure to keep tabs on who'll be dead by Avatar 5.

Eleven years for a sequel is a bit much. The Chinese won't care, though. They love that #### so much that the China Film Group is reportedly co-producing these things.
