I'm all for Elseworlds stories in the DCCW, but this doesn't do much for me. It appears to be little more than a role swap. Hopefully, there's a lot more to it than the poster suggests.

I'm all for Elseworlds stories in the DCCW, but this doesn't do much for me. It appears to be little more than a role swap. Hopefully, there's a lot more to it than the poster suggests. This crossover is a backdoor pilot to Batwoman and features black suit Superman. Lois Lane will be there too. And Mr. Freeze. |

That's more along the lines of what I'm looking for. If this is truly supposed to be the same Barry Allen as the 1990 TV series, he's been fighting bad guys for almost thirty years. I hope they're doing more than just playing on nostalgia. Is it just my imagination, or does Stephen Amell's costume look like $#!+?

I hope they're doing more than just playing on nostalgia. We're only seeing part of the crossover. Don't forget the other part is the Batwoman backdoor pilot with Mr. Freeze as the villain. 1990 Flash was very much inspired by 1989 Batman, so if they keep the tone of that show, they can use it to bridge the gap between the Arrowverse and Batwoman. Yeah, Amell's costume is garbage. |

It's a matter of using the melodrama well. But also, Season 6 finally did something all of these CW 22-episode-a-season superhero shows should have done a long time ago: the split-season approach. The first 8 episodes pre-Crisis focused on the villain Bloodwork while also priming up Crisis, then everything post-Crisis was a new storyline, but still born out of what came before. It helped everything to keep feeling exciting and well-paced. Plus, new showrunner Eric Wallace clearly has a passion for the Flash comics, which bleeds into the overall tone of the show now. |
