Everyone says that, but you never know, the Bulls would not have been able to stop Hakeem and Clyde. They were both in the 1996 team, in addition to Charles Barkley, and they lost in the Playoffs to the Super Sonics, the team the Bulls beat at the Finals.

Yeah that was really disappointing, but Seattle was great that year. I'd argue that they were the Bulls' toughest Finals match-up in the Jordan era, and that's saying something.

I'd argue that they were the Bulls' toughest Finals match-up. I think it was the Trail Blazers which had Clyde Drexler on the team. But the most entertaining were the Jazz in `97 and `98. Dennis Rodman constantly messing with Karl Malone was hilarious. Didn't they end up "wrestling" each other at WWE or WWF? That was fun.

Portland was really good too, and the Drexler-Jordan match-up was great. Jazz is iconic because of Jordan's performances (the flu game, the game winner over Byron Russell after that nasty cross over) and it being his swan song. The Suns were good too, I mean you can definitely argue any of the Finals match-ups (except maybe his first over the Lakers who had a near-retirement Magic Johnson) to be the best, but I think the Sonics came the closest to giving them a real scare.

I think the Sonics came the closest to giving them a real scare. They didn't. The Bulls won the first three games, including a blow-out. It was only in Games 4 & 5 where the Super Sonics got their shit together, but despite the embarrassment of not sweeping the Super Sonics, everyone knew the Bulls couldn't be defeated in four straight games. The Bulls were bound to win and they did so in Game 6. The Trail Blazers in 1992 were the real nail bitters. They beat the Bulls in Game 2 in overtime. They beat them again in Game 4. And in Game 6 they ALMOST beat them. They were winning until the end of the game when Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen went into overdrive and won the game by 4 points. The Trail Blazers were the only team that almost took the Bulls to a Game 7. You can make the same argument for the Phoenix Suns since the Bulls won in Game 6 by only 1 point, but that series wasn't as evenly matched. The Bulls won the first two games and Game 4. They were never tied or losing. I don't think anyone doubted the Bulls would win. The Utah Jazz were arguably a greater threat than the Suns and the Super Sonics. They tied the series in Game 4, which is something those two teams never accomplished. And Game 6 was literally won in the last minute. The Jazz is another team that could have taken the Bulls to a Game 7. Twice. Don't forget Game 6 of the `98 Finals was won in the last 5 seconds.

That's all very true, Portland and Utah did push the Bulls more than the Sonics did. I thought I read a quote by Jordan saying they were his toughest opponent in the finals, but I could be wrong.

I thought I read a quote by Jordan saying they were his toughest opponent in the finals. He's probably saying that because of the embarrassment of Games 4 and 5. If he went back to the tapes he would see that the Trail Blazers tied the series twice and were winning Game 6 until the 4th quarter. And Scottie Pippen, who likes to talk shit, would see why Michael Jordan is better than LeBron James. Knowing what we know about LeBron from his five Finals appearances, he would have given up in Game 6 and rested for Game 7. But Jordan AND Pippen kept fighting and won the series in spectacular fashion. That's what separates great players from good ones. Even Magic Johnson, who lost four straight games against the Bulls in 1991, fought till the very end. LeBron would have given up halfway through the series.

Yeah LeBron is lame, I've never been a fan of the guy. Great player, no doubt, but he doesn't have half the work ethic of Jordan or Kobe and even less of their tenacity to win at all costs.

Compared to his contemporaries, Lebron is the most clutch performer (in the last like 5 seconds or on go ahead shots to end the game) in the playoffs by far. Ahead of Duncan, Manu, and most certainly head and shoulders above Kobe.

Why does Kobe only have 1 MVP do you think? He has one regular season MVP, two Finals MVP's, and four all-star MVP's. That's 7 MVP Awards. And it should be ten. Giving Shaq the MVP for the first three championships was ludicrous. The guy can't even make free throws.

Congrats to SnoBorderZero . The Rockets won. Although it might be a short lived victory. Do we really think they'll win two more games? The Clippers are just one game away from wrapping this up. And the same can be said about LeBron vs D-Ross. I really want Chicago to win, but it's a lost cause. The Cavs are going to the Eastern Finals and probably win there too. Brace yourself for the 5th consecutive LeBron Finals and the first for Cleveland in like 12 years. Will he win? That's the big question. Can the Clippers beat him? Golden State? Memphis? I don't know. Just prepare yourself for Cleveland getting their trophy after calling LeBron the devil 5 years ago. frankyt , what you think?

We live to see another day. They've played consistently awful throughout the series, but I feel if they can somehow win in LA then they'll take it in Game 7. But considering how poorly they played in both games in LA, I'm not hopeful.

Are we really counting all star game mvps as on par with regular season mvps???
Cavs have them with pau out and rose hurting. Clips roll tomorrow easy. Only chance Rockets have is if Harden goes off for 2 straight games. Has to hit at least 5 three's each game and a minimum of 15 free throws a game.

You mean tomorrow. Tonight is Washington vs Atlanta and Golden State vs Memphis. Both series are tied at two each. People aren't paying attention to these two series because they aren't high-profile teams, but right now, they're the exciting matches. We already know the Clippers won. We already know Cleveland won. But here, it's still up in the air. Who's gonna play against the Clippers? Who's gonna play against Cleveland? Nobody knows. What do you think, SnoBorderZero ?

Yeah Cleveland has it and likely has booked a trip to the finals, no way Atlanta or Washington can top them. I hate the east, it's absurdly easy to get to the finals, Cavaliers would've been drubbed in the first round against anyone other than the Pelicans, maybe the Mavericks, if they were in the west.
The Rockets just played with no heart and no effort in both games in LA, so I agree, it'd take a lot to win Game 6. We are really missing Beverly and Montiejunas right now, Josh Smith and Jones have been putting up some ugly bricks and Jason Terry is the ultimate chucker.

With the Rockets out, that's all you have. Clippers vs Golden State will be exciting for the water-less California. Who do you think is a better match-up for LeBron in the Finals? I think the Clippers could challenge LeBron at the Finals. They're a much better or more seasoned team. If anything, this could be a repeat of the Mavericks vs Heat Finals in 2011. But Golden State or Memphis? I don't know. I think if either team goes to the Finals, LeBron is guaranteed his 3rd ring.

Don't let Jerry Brown hear you making drought jokes, he might banish you to Stockton!
I'm not rooting for anyone until we're out, but I'd way rather see Clippers-Warriors just because the two teams truly HATE each other, which will make for some amazing games. Golden State will win in 6 though, they swept the Clippers in the regular season. Plus I just hate, hate, hate Matt Barnes, he's trailer trash needs a good punch to the throat, so no way I'm rooting for the Clippers. Barnes, Turkoglu (the ultimate dipshit, especially for his time in Toronto when he lied about being sick and was out clubbing instead only to call out the FANS for ratting him out, dumbass), Glen Davis, and Spencer Hawes are all total losers and I can't root for the Clippers when they have so many derps on their team.
And why wouldn't Golden State or Memphis be able to beat them? The Clippers are the ones who would get rolled over by Cleveland, Golden State and Memphis are both far superior defensive teams and can throw a lot of different defenders at LeBron. J.R. Smith will give up 25 points a night to Thompson, and Curry will outplay Irving meaning as long as they contain LeBron, they got it. Golden State is still the favorite until proven otherwise.

Golden State will win in 6 though, they swept the Clippers in the regular season. While that gives Golden State the advantage, it's no guarantee. Because I get an Oklahoma City vibe from them. Relevant today. Gone tomorrow. The Clippers, love them or hate them, have been a contender even before the new owner and coach. LeBron is a very inconsistent player. One day he's a pushover and another day he's the new Michael Jordan. You can't rely on defense to beat LeBron. You have to focus on offense. If you can make 100 points before LeBron, you're gonna win the game. And this is not bullshit. Go back to those Miami Heat finals. In the 2011 Finals, the first four games were close games. But in Games 5 and 6, the Mavericks scored 100 points and left the Heat trailing behind. And when they played the Spurs back-to-back, the Spurs always beat the Heat with over 100 points. There's something psychologically wrong with LeBron James. As soon as the opposing team gets 100 points, he forgets how to play basketball. If Golden State or Memphis can score 100 points against LeBron, the championship is theirs. Otherwise, don't count on it.

The Clippers (if they advance) have never been this far as a franchise EVER, so who knows how they'll handle the pressure. My point was more that LeBron can do what he wants, but even if he scores 30 Curry will outplay Irving and Cleveland's bench and other role players don't hold a candle to the Warriors'. You are right though, LeBron does not do well with catch up but if he comes out aggressive from the start he'll be tough to contain.

But if he comes out aggressive from the start he'll be tough to contain. Has he ever been aggressive from the start? He usually saves his best stuff for the 4th quarter. I don't think LeBron has stamina. He's like a fit version of Shaq. Remember how Shaq would end every game with his sweat all over the court and his vocal skills 100x worse? That's LeBron in like 10 years.

Lol, no he usually looks to get his team going and run the offense, which is fine. But like you mentioned, he's not good at catch-up and Irving can be very hot/cold, so unless other guys are knocking down shots early, he'd better take over like 2008 LeBron.

So as of right now, it looks like the conference finals will be Clippers vs Golden State and Cleveland vs Atlanta. SnoBorderZero frankytTonight will be interesting because the Clippers and LeBron have the opportunity to wrap things off. If Cleveland loses, it won't be shocking because I think everyone expected a Game 7 in that series. But if the Clippers lose, the tables might have turned.

I am keeping my fingers crossed about tonight, as a fan I gotta keep the faith alive. But franklin and I have been Rockets fans long enough to know that postseason success isn't exactly our mantra since Hakeem's been gone. Still, the Clippers are very beatable, and if Harden and Howard come out strong then who knows. Hack-a-Jordan to the max tonight!
