Deexan SnoBorderZeroWhen the Detriot Pistons became the bad boys of the NBA by playing ultra physical, Michael Jordan hit the gym. It was that simple. The Chicago Bulls dethroned the Pistons in 1991 by being physically stronger. I don't think that mentality is used in this era. If the San Antonio Spurs of today played the Pistons of yesterday, they would end up in the hospital. If more players looked like LeBron James, there would probably be less injuries.

I totally agree, Jordan responded to their physicality by getting stronger. The league now, especially with the stretch-4 position becoming so prominent, is much more finesse than strength and the reliance on the 3-point shot has never been greater. The Spurs shoot a lot of 3's, but also have excellent rebounding and post-game inside. That being said, I'm not sure how Tim Duncan would respond to Lambier or Rodman knocking him around, and if Tony Parker and Manu Ginobli would be able to score on Isiah Thomas and Joe Dumars. It's an interesting debate, but I agree Neverending that the league is sorely lacking in the physicality from just 20 years ago. As a result, the "rivalries" in the NBA aren't as interesting as before either. Teams then hated each other, oh man you know the Bulls and Pistons despised one another, same with the Lakers and Celtics in the '80s. I mean, look at when LeBron plays Miami now. He's hugging Wade and Bosh and joking around with them. Ugh. There's still old school players like Duncan and Kobe that maintain the '90s mentality, but the intensity and rivalry has taken a hit now that the NBA is poo-pooing defense and letting offensive players go unchallenged.

I'm not sure how Tim Duncan would respond to Lambier or Rodman knocking him around. Compare Tim Duncan's lanky body to David Robinson's fit body. That's your answer.

Good point, though in Duncan's defense I've never seen anyone bullying him in his career, not even Shaq.

90s NBA was unbelievable. It was literally prime time TV on a terrestrial channel in the UK on a saturday and sunday afternoon. Now it only gets a late night slot on Sky TV. Jordan's effect was immense.

Rockets dispatch of the Mavericks, suck it Dallas! You are celebrating WAY too early. The Rockets are gonna get their ass kicked by the Spurs in the second round. Anyway... I'm crossing my fingers for the Bulls. It looks like they're gonna face LeBron in the second round which is REALLY stupid. Bulls vs LeBron should a conference finals match. Who the fuck schedules this shit? They're missing out on big ratings. Most people only watch the conference finals and the actual finals. The Eastern finals this year is either gonna be Bulls or LeBron vs Atlanta or Brooklyn or Washington. Talk about shit. The West, once again, is the exciting one. The Spurs are probably heading to the finals again. 10 years after they beat the Detroit Pistons which is STILL the best finals match the Spurs have ever had and arguably the best finals match of the past 10 years. I'm hoping for Bulls vs Spurs at the finals. That would be fun. If it's LeBron vs Spurs that's gonna be so fucking stupid. The Spurs have kicked LeBron's ass two times already. And the ONE time LeBron won it was because of Ray Allen (sort of). I know people in Cleveland want LeBron in the finals... but come on... against the Spurs? You REALLY think LeBron can beat the Spurs? And I'm not saying the Bulls would beat the Spurs - they probably won't - but it would at least be different. LeBron vs Spurs... we've seen that shit three times arleady. Snoozefest! And yes, I know, the Spurs might not make it to the finals. But who's actually gonna beat them? Golden State? The Grizzlies? Houston??? Come on. Be real. Maybe Houston. I don't know. But I have a strong feeling the Spurs are heading to the finals again.

I can't celebrate winning a playoff series? Against the lamest of all the teams?
I think we can take the Spurs, they're old and still playing while we're getting rested up. Harden will hold his own against Kawhai and Dwight will neutralize Duncan. They're deeper than us, but if Terrence Jones and Josh Smith play well we've got them beat. Our biggest issue is guarding Tony Parker, Jason Terry and Prigioni can't defend anyone so we're really going to miss Beverly in this series.
Well no one schedules it, it's solely based on seeding. Yeah Bulls-Cavaliers would be the best outcome for the conference finals, but I wouldn't discredit Atlanta, they're a fun team to watch despite not having any stars (Horford is the closest thing they've got). I would really not like to see LeBron vs. the Spurs again either. I'm very curious to see the Golden State-Memphis match-up, I think Memphis and San Antonio are the only teams that can beat Golden State because of their superior front courts. We shall see, but it's been a good playoffs so far. Not as exciting as last year, but the second round match-ups are very intriguing.

I think we can take the Spurs, they're old and still playing while we're getting rested up. That's the excuse everyone always uses. It's possible. I mean... LeBron vs Houston would be more interesting than LeBron vs Spurs. If the Spurs beat Houston and then win the conference finals, then Chicago is the team we need to be rooting for.

Well the thing is we don't stand a chance against Golden State, they swept us in the season including the game I went to with friends in Oakland. Despite my drunken yelling and cheering we fell in the 4th quarter. San Antonio and Memphis we know well because we're in the same division, and I feel like it can be done. Golden State, not a chance.

Golden State-Cleveland is the match-up I'd put money on only because Cleveland has an easy road to the finals. But Memphis and San Antonio against Golden State? I'd probably take both of them in 7, I just think their defense and superior front court are going to be tough on the Warriors.

Rockets have no chance second round. Clips or Spurs beat us.
I think the Cavs shot took a hit and now I think it is the West's to lose. Cavs are in a bad way and no one else in the East is good enough. Could be a snoozer with Wizards v Spurs. How bad would ratings be?

SnoBorderZero frankytWe don't have to worry about the Spurs anymore. Round 2 Atlanta vs Washington Chicago vs Cleveland Golden State vs Memphis Los Angeles vs Houston I think Bulls vs Clippers would be a fun Finals but I don't know if the LeBron train can be stopped.

Rockets can take this series, game one tonight. Clippers have a very talented starting five but outside of Crawford their bench stinks. As usual it all depends on Dwight Howard's performance, no one on their team can effectively guard Harden.

As usual it all depends on Dwight Howard's performance, no one on their team can effectively guard Harden. The Miami Heat won two championships with a mediocre bench and an inconsistent LeBron. I wouldn't underestimate the Clippers. They've been a contender for a long time now. They're bound to go to the Finals sooner or later.

Oh they absolutely can, I don't doubt that. But they become unraveled at this time, they cry and complain too much and lose their composure. I'm thinking Harden is gonna have a monster series, FEAR THE BEARD!

SnoBorderZero frankytThe Chicago Bulls beat LeBron in Game 1, but it wasn't a comfortable win. The Bulls need to work on their rebounds. They need to play the clock better. And PLEASE protect D-Rose. Don't let this fucker get injured again. The next 6 games are gonna be rough.

Rockets played a terrible game last night, really screwed up and possibly screwed up this series already. The amount of unforced turnovers was painful to watch unfold.

They did well during the first half. They got cocky. At one point they were leading by over 10 points. I think this Rockets team is too young. Give them another year of two of experience.

Yeah, a lot of poor decisions and shots by Josh Smith, Terrence Jones, and Corey Brewer. And Harden had 9 turnovers and was a non-factor, even though his statline suggests otherwise. Dwight played very well, I was very impressed by him on both ends of the floor. But bottom line, this is one they needed to win. At home, no Chris Paul, and they played horribly. It'll be interesting to see how they respond, but this was a huge missed opportunity.
