I did this in 2021, 2020, 2019, 2018, 2017, 2016, 2015, 2014, 2013, 2012, 2011, 2010, 2009, 2008, 2007, 2006 , 2005, 2004, and for both the 2000s decade and the 2010s decade. It's worked out fairly well. It's very simple. You post your top ten movies list of 2022 then I will splice them all together into one definitive list of the top ten of 2022. The lists should be ranked, no ties. Traditionally I did this the week before the Oscars but every year I get people who don't come to the boards every day who miss the whole voting period so now I'm setting it up three weeks before the due date to help turnout. You have until 2:00 P.M. CST on 3-11-2023 (that's the day before the Oscars)
Just to clarify: Qualification only requires that the movie be released in 2022 in America. When in doubt about eligibility of a given film, just ask me and I'll make a ruling You're welcome to edit your list after posting, but please give me a heads-up when you do and keep you original post intact so I know what has changed. I'll start: 1. Everything Everywhere All at Once 2. Tar 3. Women Talking 4. The Fabelmans 5. The Banshees of Inisherin 6. The Batman 7. Happening 8. The Northman 9. Babylon 10. Avatar: The Way of Water

Gonna continue my Oscar catch-up binge but should have a list for you in early March. The Quiet Girl doesn't open here until March 10th so there is a chance that could make a last minute change but otherwise I shouldn't take too long to catch up.

The shift of this boards list from more popcorn movies to cinema as we age has been something.
Wonder where that ratio lies this year.
I'll have my list in early March as well. Hope I can get a few more movies in.

The shift of this boards list from more popcorn movies to cinema as we age has been something. Yes, #1 will surely be The 355. We finally caught up to the French New Wave with that motion picture.

Yeah, I'm trying to catch up on a few more before the deadline as well. But I'll definitely post mine before the deadline.

I should probably at least catch-up with Aftersun and Bardo. Otherwise, I've seen most of the big contenders.

I'll be finalizing my list when I watch RRR this weekend, but I think I've just about seen everything I'm going to.
Looks like the only Oscar contenders I won't be able to see are Close, The Quiet Girl, All the Beauty and the Bloodshed, and How Do You Measure a Year?
As it stands, I'm at:
1. Everything Everywhere All at Once 2. Barbarian 3. The Banshees on Inisherin 4. The Woman King 5. All Quiet on the Western Front 6. The Outfit 7. Smile 8. Glass Onion 9. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever 10. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness

Final List 1. The Banshees of Inisherin 2. The Menu 3. Everything Everywhere All At Once 4. The Fabelmans 5. The Batman 6. Elvis 7. Babylon 8. Glass Onion 9. Aftersun 10. Barbarian Runner-ups 11. Emily the Criminal 12. Prey 13. Smile 14. Nope 15. The Northman Caught up with The Fabelmans, Elvis, Aftersun, and Triangle of Sadness all this month. The first 3 all made my top 10. Honorable mention for Triangle of Sadness and Top Gun: Maverick, who just missed my top 15.

I plan to post my list tonight when I have my journal with me. Still have a couple of Oscar-nominated movies to cross off but I suspect the really good stuff is behind me. Will adjust if I find otherwise.
Very happy I waited to see Aftersun though. Wow.
