Spider-man 2 is Marvel's best film. No. Viewed in a vacuum, Spider-Man 2 is a very good movie. I'll grant you that much. That said however, when you look at the film as the sequel to the original Spider-Man, it has some major problems. They're essentially the same movie. All of the major plot points are exactly the same. It gets even worse when viewed in context with Spider-Man 3, which also has identical plot points to the first two, with the bonus of several excruciatingly bad musical numbers shoehorned into the movie. And whats wrong with having it exist on its own? Sure that's tougher to do with 1, you kind of need that I suppose. But 3 can be ignored. And I really dont think they are the same movie, I thin 2 has a lot of character stuff happening in it which bolsters it.

Let's all pause to reflect on the fact that Sony and Marvel clearly saw our thread poll and decided to sort out their differences.
It's a win for CS! whichever way you look at it.

I still enjoy the first two Spider-Man movies. The first Amazing Spider-Man grew on me. I'm looking forward to this one.
I'll be in Austin for RTX and trying to convince Seakazoo into seeing this at the Paramount. Ganted I'm sure it'll be filled to the brim with other RTX attendees.

if you had to rank all the spiderman movies
Spider-Man 2 The Amazing Spider-man Spider-man Amazing Spider-man 2 Spider-man 3
Garfields opening movie was a lot better than I was hoping for. It's the sequels that Sony doesn't know how to work with. It looses all steam and they forget to actually have a decent story that seems natural.

It's okay, Doomsday. I'm with you. Granted, I thought the fight scene on the subway train was cool, but then it was ruined by the silly faces and hokey New York citizens lifting Peter up afterwards. *shrugs* Never cared for it. I haven't been a big fan of any Spider-Man film. I've enjoyed moments from each, but never one as a whole. Hopefully the new one will change that.

We can hate on the New Yorkers but it's what gives those movies its verisimilitude. What's the alternative? Blowing up cities and using the extra's as body bags?

I really dont think they are the same movie, I thin 2 has a lot of character stuff happening in it which bolsters it. A man with a personal tie to Peter Parker involves himself in a science experiment that results in his gaining of superpowers and mental instability, creating a supervillain. Our new supervillain causes an incident at a public place which draws out Spider-Man. During the incident, a woman with a personal tie to Peter finds herself hanging precariously from the side of a building. Spider-Man has to let the supervillain get away in order to save her life. Peter saves a baby from a burning building and returns the infant to it's mother's arms. The supervillain soon uses the known link between the Daily Bugle's photographer Peter Parker and Spider-Man to provoke another confrontation. Once again, the bad guy gets away, and this time Spider-Man is injured during the fight. The supervillain kidnaps Mary Jane in order to draw Spider-Man into a final battle. MJ is rescued and the baddie winds up killing himself. Okay, which one of Sam Raimi's Spider-Man movies was the paragraph above about?

You've got the wrong Sam Raimi trilogy that he compulsively remade, although at least Army of Darkness was significantly different from the first two Evil Dead films, unlike Spider-Man 3. I can't help but wonder if Raimi has some kind of issue that he's trying to work through by making the same movies while trying to pass them off as something new.

The Amazing Spiderman Was a good enough restart but it was clear Webb just cheapened down The Green Goblen arc and Jamie Foxx is a bad idea for a serious Villain. What i am kinda pissed off about is Andrew Garfield just was let go one day in the middle of production of the 3rd movie. Just because Marvel wanted too reboot. I never quite got why Garfield had too be recasted at all. I know people are loving Holland but is he as good without RDJ and the other Avengers. I think this Spiderman looks too young while Garfield would have been better for more mature audience. Kinda like the appeal Raimi's Spiderman movies had for me.
1 Spiderman 2 2 Spiderman 3 Amazing Spiderman 4 Spiderman 3 5 Amazing Spiderman 2.
