Looks like it's official. www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/robert-downey-jr-joins-spider-885829I'm so sick and tired of the teenage Spider-man... I wish Marvel had moved past that and focused on the adult stories. A mature, responsible and interesting Spiderman? Why not focus on the adult arcs; the Symbiote Saga? The Lost Years? The Clone Saga? Why must it always be the same freaking 12 yrs old peter, over and over again...

I think Spiderman The Webbed Avenger Sounds Better. If its in the world of MCU. But If was a New Sony. Spiderman New Origins Sounds Better too. Homecoming Sounds too well lame.

While I agree that Keaton would make an excellent Dr. Connors, I just don't see Marvel Studios using any villain that's already appeared on the silver screen. I'm hoping for Mysterio. I can easily see him as an angry and bitter old pro at practical movie FX who's been put out of business by CGI, and has decided to use his expertise towards his own ends.

Smythe, bring on the Spider-Slayers.
Or, how about the Chameleon?

Spider-Man has one of the best rogues galleries in comics. They could stretch this out for a long time before circling back on the Green Goblin well.
Honestly, if they were smart, they'd keep Keaton alive at the end of this one and try to work up to a Sinister Six movie.

If Iron Man is in the movie, I can see Michael Keaton playing The Tinkerer, a disgruntled employee from Star Enterprises who creates The Vulture from spare parts.

The Tinkerer would be an interesting choice. His character has the potential to be very versatile. He could be a Big Bad, dealing out equipment and formulas that grant superhuman abilities in order to manipulate events as a Moriarty type genius. They might make him someone who works for Wilson Fisk, providing the Kingpin with super-powered enforcers that Melvin Potter isn't up to the task of handling. He could also just be a man out to make a living in a world where criminals have more to worry about than just the police, and is selling tech to meet the demand. Any which way Marvel choose to go, it eliminates the need for a convoluted origin story of villains like Shocker, Vulture, Chameleon, Rhino, Scorpion or Beetle.

I know he's been done but how about Dr Ock or maybe even Curt Conners. Marvel Studios is giving us an all-new Spider-Man, and doing so for the third time. This task all on it's own is going to be difficult. Bringing villains in which the audience already associates with the previous films would only make what they're trying to do even harder. Given the vast selection of villains available who have never appeared in a Spider-Man movie, such a move would be foolish.

Primary antagonist just sounds too much like English class. For a comic book story, Big Bad just seems more appropriate to me.

Um The Vulture though has IDK always been a weak villain and Id rather see The King Pin Be the real Villain. Curt Conners is not always the Villain. Keaton would work in a lab coat. People assume that Birdman tv show means he is gotta be Vulture. And Batman uses certain villains over because some or more important. Spiderman is the same way. Spidermans best Villains are Lizard done right Dr Ock Norman Osbourn Venom The King Pin Thats the Spidey Big bads

Do you have too do the Lizard can you not have Curt Conners because this is again Early Spiderman but then again maybe Im wrong because after all there is no mary jane. Spidermans potential Love Interest is well different.

I don't think anyone is saying that traditional foes such as Doc Ock or Lizard will never appear in a Marvel Studios Spidey movie. They simply need to get a few movies out there to firmly establish the new status quo before returning to characters we've seen before. When we finally do see them again, the versions we get will certainly be nothing like what we got in previous cinematic incarnations. Since there's usually two or three years between movies, that could take quite a while.
When it comes to a potential love interest, I suspect they will go with the comics. Peter's girlfriend during his High School days was Betty Brant, secretary of JJ Jameson. While we've seen her before in the Sam Raimi era (played by Elizabeth Banks), her primary purpose was to be someone for JJ Jameson to play off of. I suspect a modern version of her would likely be an intern at the Daily Bugle rather than JJJ's secretary. The reasons for her being a secretary at 15 are too convoluted to put in a movie.

I hope in the future they come back around to venom and give him the movie and time he deserves.
It would be awesome if they could actually do a Secret Wars movie further down the line, but I don't know how well that would go over without X-men, and Fantastic Four.

If an adaptation of Secret Wars does occur, it won't be tied to the Venom symbiote. They've retconned the origin of the symbiote these days, since the one from Secret Wars is kinda weak and nonsensical for a character of Venom's stature. Such an adaptation will also have about as much to do with the comics as Civil War did.
