I just have All About My Mother, which I've ordered the Criterion for.
I also have a few movies I still want to rewatch. I've hit most of the ones I really needed to revisit but I might try to scratch off a few more.

Double-featured The Evil Dead and Evil Dead II on Saturday night. Evil Dead II was fun and everything, though I don't think I would've put it on a Top 100 list.

Oh uh... Amazingly. Simply amazingly.
But the roomies leaving for her parents on the 21st so I should be able to start marathoning some flicks right up to the wire. As is tradition.

I don't know if either Evil Dead would have made my list either but I'm glad one made it all the same. Evil Dead II will certainly not be in my bottom 10 and possibly not in my bottom 20.

All I have that I still need to watch is All About My Mother. Blu-ray should be on the way. I'm also through most of the rewatches I wanted to do. Rewatched Back to the Future for the first time in almost ten years last night.

I think Fanny and Alexander is next on my list which is equal to 11 movies or so.

Will ask if people need extensions as we get closer.
I have a week long staycation in two weeks where I can probably knock out some more, but due to life Das Boot took me all last weekend.
Still have like 15-20, including Three Colors and Fanny and Alexander.

Das Boot and Once Upon a Time in America I think I'll have to complete over different installments.

Back to the Future is a lot better than I remembered.
Saving Private Ryan is...I don't wanna say much worse because it's definitely good but man is it frustrating.

Stage is now set for my Thin Red Line rewatch. Didn't want Ryan to have to be viewed in Malick's shadow given I suspect I'm gonna like this so much more on a rewatch. I liked the movie well enough as a teen but I've really come around on Terrence in the last few years.

I just finished Menace II Society. I actually had to split it in two this afternoon because it's...very uncompromising. Which I definitely respect and admire about it, plus the overall filmmaking is pretty stellar -- especially when considering that this was The Hughes Brothers' debut feature. The one hold-up I really have over it -- well, maybe two -- will obviously come off as a double-edged sword, but I found that in doubling down with all the "hood-isms", the movie sometimes ran the risk of becoming cliched in that department. Also, as a character, Caine really isn't all that sympathetic, so I'm not sure if I was ever truly invested in the outcome of his story or not. On the other hand, though, I fully recognize that both those things are most likely on purpose, because the Hughes are clearly trying to be as frank and honest about this kind of life and society as possible, showing that it's very bleak.
And in that respect, I can say that the film is undeniably successful. So, I'm not sure if those criticisms ultimately amount to much...but they're still what I felt on a story/emotional level. But my thumb is certainly up on this.
