Are you seeing anyone PhantomKnight? Anyone you have your eye on? If so maybe ask her over, dim the lights a little, pop open a bottle of wine, pull her in tight and turn on Come and See. You can thank me later.

I totally get what Danny Boyle was going for and can respect the style on that certain level, but man...I still found it to be a very ugly, repugnant experience. After a certain point/scene, I just said to myself, "I want out. Make it stop." I take it you didn't have one of these on your dorm room wall...

I think between this, Fear and Loathing, and The Wolf of Wall Street, it's safe to say you're not wild about movies which depict the effects of drugs.

No. The Dark Knight, The Hangover, Inception and Inglorious Basterds and The Office posters graced my dorm room walls.

Guess it's mixing in satire that's the heart of the problem.

At least Fear and Loathing will have some company now at the bottom of my list.

I think I know what my bottom will be. But we'll see. Bottom of my list was a close race between Airplane, Man on the Moon, and The Fifth Element, which are the only of the nominees that I'd truly call "bad." Oddly enough I ultimately put Man on the Moon at the bottom even though it's probably the least objectionable as a viewing experience just because it seemed like the least notable of them. Airplane doesn't hit my sense of humor at all and is a chore to sit through, but I do get why other people like it and can't deny its influence even though I hate most of the movies it's inspired. And while I find the story in The Fifth Element to be pure hokum and don't think it fits together at all I do appreciate the Moebius-ness of its visuals. But Man on the Moon just strikes me as this incredibly square biopic that's the antithesis of the unconventional and boundary pushing comedian at its center, the fact that it's an unobjectionable watch is kind of its key flaw.

I love Man on the Moon. One of the most fascinating, entertaining celebrity biopics I've seen, as well as being one of Jim Carrey's three best performances.
And yes, Dracula already submitted his list.

I liked Man on the Moon a lot when I saw it but it doesn't hold up especially well in my memory.

Aaaand Naked. How could I forget Naked? Given your love for movies with unsympathetic central characters you should dig that. Plus you'll get to see Remus Lupin's penis.

Gives new meaning to "I will not cover up for you again, Harry". Now we know why Lupin really resigned before news of him got back to parents.

I'm going to try and watch anything that I feel is not burned into my memory. See how many i can get in there. Including those and the unseen it's 48 films i'm going to try for.

DVD rip of Naked is there too.
I'd encourage using Criterion Channel though to see that shit in HD.

The only movies on here that aren't readily available to stream without having to pay are Kagemusha, Videodrome, Das Boot (though I've been offered a Movies Anywhere Screen Pass for that) and Cinema Paradiso. Paramount+ has Cinema Paradiso, but it's the 3-hour Director's Cut and not the theatrical and I'd rather watch the theatrical.

If you have a VPN you could watch Das Boot on Canadian Netflix.

Anyone else having trouble playing All About My Mother on Amazon? I carved out some down time this morning to watch it and it doesn't fucking play. Bastards!
